For now I disabled the FTP access to the site… as we have no idea where it came from, its nothing personal or no restriction, just a security measure until we have all filtered.

The forum became incredibly sluggish because of it.

The Staff forum’s also useful if you want to ask or talk about something with a reduced, sealed group of people. You can be sure there will be no leakage and they will always respect you. It’s a bit like asking a coworker about something.

So if anybody has some question they do not believe belongs to a public board, they are free to ask on the Staff forum 😉

To be honest I dont think so.

majkp, the technical guy over there is very open to the outside, he also went so far to send people to our server to test the 200 player limit hack.
Also, Cannon, someone who basically came from Discovery, is now writing FLHook plugins (open source), after being directed to me by majkp.
Also, on the forums there is fairly much talk about “the outside”. It is only natural that with such a big community to handle, you dont look beyond your own backyard very much…

I’d agree though that Igiss is definately one of the closed-minded guys. I remember when he put up some weird copyright info about every mod submission by outsiders being reserved to be used exclusively by the Discovery mod.

Also, if you look through the Discovery dev boards, there have been multiple references to 88 Flak mod, some of my concept videos, and the Plasmafire mod, etc…
Problem with Disco is, they have very loyal players, so most of them dont really look over the edge to see whats outside.
Why should they, if they like roleplay and an almost MMO experience, they are at the right place on Disco.

Well that ruined all my fun.

So, then lets refer to my post ‘To increase forum activity…’ where I briefly metioned competitions.

What could we do in this particular area? What sort of competitions? What would the prizes be? Etc etc.

I just wanted to respond to this, although I have spoken with Worfeh and FF privately a week or so back.

I did completely miss this the first time round, obviously as a couple of you know I had to deal with 2 deaths in a very short amount of time. It was a tough ride. And I know that the decision to remove me would have been tough based on the knowledge you had of this. But you made that decision for the good of the Site, the team and the community that has grown here. And for that I bore no grudge.

Moving on;

I see Torch didnt take things so well. As said elsewhere, she always was VERY fiesty. Oh well. Do you still speak to her Worfeh?

Does Crazy still drop by from time to time?

Yeh saw that too, but didn’t know if i could “just” do that… PE is stil in the house, an i have no idea what he changed or not changed so left it to be on the old version.

“Content” is a bit vague, and can mean anything at all - sounds? textures? music? the complete contents of every INI file?

I agree with FF - as it stands I don’t think many people, if any, would be willing to abide by that.

Ive used it on XP with no problems.

But how far would someone go to:

1. Spoof some ones IP addres
2. Create an account on his name
3. hack that site so email info could be changed
4. start pm trafic with people involved on 2 different community sites
