Export/Import request

In Lithunwrap you go File>Model>Save and you get to pick from OBJ, 3DS, COB, X, LWO, ASC & DXF, most of which MAX will load.Got it, thanks.
Re: Export/Import request by Lancer Solurus on 2009/9/5 21:32:01 I would avoid 3ds format since it doesn’t have native texture support. If it does in those then it was a late addition before they released 3DS Max
If i finish the texturing procedure in 3dsmax i could export it into md3 format.
By the way, what version of milkshape is necessary to export into cmp?
Ive heard some newest version may cause problems in freelancer. -
Many use 1.7.3 because of the old CMP IM_porter_, it supports the CMP exporter also.
But I’ve found the new importer from p1p3r works great in 1.8.3, and I’ve had no problems with the CMP exporter in 1.8.3 either.
You can have multiple installed versions of MS3D, so no loss either way, I still have 1.7.3, 1.8.2, and 1.8.3. Though 1.8.2 is just left there from me being too lazy to uninstall it.
So, short answer, 1.8.3 should work fine. Some ppl have probs though; only one way to find out.

How many groups are allowed in milkshape when i export into cmp? Is there any limit?

Does anyone know of an importer or program that can read *.M3D files please?I think you mean md3, then gmax, and 3dsmax could read this format.
I guess there are many, but i know only this two prog.
If you want to import a md3 file you need this:
http://www.davidhsmith.net/Essential_Tools.htm
md3 to gmax, md3 to 3dsmax.
