Wtf I feel so stupid. Thank you… Why did it work the first time?

I am working with xp os and I played the new 4.86 mod successfully once then every time I start the game I see the exiles opening page and then it crashes and gives me an error report. I have deleted both freelancer and the mod and done fresh installs of both to no avail. I would really like to get back into this game please help
