I recently installed 15.4 Catalyst beta drivers for my R9 290X, and I’ve noticed I now have issues with missing textures on some ships in the Discovery mod. It all worked fine on 14.12 drivers, but now it doesn’t. I remember modders had this problem before, and it mostly was to do with setting FL to low detail then not displaying textures, but I’m not sure this is the same thing because it works on some modded ships and doesn’t work on others.
So the first thing I did was open relevant mat files in UTF Editor, have a look at the differences between the textures that work and ones that don’t to see if maybe its a format issue. The working texture and the one that is missing ingame are exactly the same in size, format (dds, dxt1), 1 mipmap level… but one displays ingame, and the other doesn’t. Funnily enough when I load the relevant CMPs in UTF Editor and preview the model, the one that doesn’t work ingame works there fine while the one that does is the one that is missing a few textures. So it doesn’t seem like an export issue.
The other thing I tried was to use the ENB dx8 to dx9 renderer converter, but that didn’t seem to have any effect.
What else could I check to see why only specific models are affected by this? Or is this a problem that cannot be fixed by modders? Any ideas/confirmations that its a driver issue?
