Thanks very much for the suggestions. I think I see the problem. My laptop had a DVD drive that had a spindle you popped the CD/DVD onto, and the underside of my FL CD is all scratched - badly. I tried copying the CD with Alcohol 52%, but it got read errors. It appears to be the files in CAB2.CAB that are affected, so I’m downloading a torrent and hoping that I can install from that. I also hope that the original CD will still play the game, otherwise I’ll have to buy a new one. Shouldn’t cost much though these days.

I know…I have an external USB DVD drive. I’ll try that and see.

Yes, I am the registered user. I haven’t had any problems installing anything else over the past few years.
I have the Trial working away fine - I wonder if I can copy over additional files from the CD to run the full game that way?

My C drive has 10 times the required space free, so it’s not that that’s the problem. My D partition has all of the system data on it.
I really don’t know what to think

1000 apologies if this has been covered somewhere before, but I couldn’t find anything, so here goes…
I’m trying to install FL on my PC (XP SP3). It has well over and above (and beyond) the minimum recommended spec. I have disabled all Av etc., gotten rid of the 5 virtual drives I had set up under Alcohol 52%, and basically done everything I can think of to get it to install.
It gets to 46% and then reports back ‘Setup encountered an error writing to file C:\Program Files…etc’ blah blah ‘Make sure that the Hard disk is not full or the file is in use’.
I’m at a loss. Has anyone come across this before?
Any help greatly appreciated.
It ran well enough on my old laptop, provided I sat it up on 3 upturned glasses to stop it from crashing due to heat build-up XD
