…“Yo ho, yo ho, a pirates life for me!
We pillage, we plunder, we rifle and loot,
Drink up me hearties yo ho!
We kidnap and ravage and don’t give a hoot,
Drink up me hearties yo ho!”…
The history of the Black Flag Corsairs
The initial origins of the Black Flag Corsairs are unknown to most. Some say that they were once an elite Bretonian undercover operation, working to undermine pirates across Sirius, or that their circle of elite pilots were once a Bretonian fighter wing, who were disbanded and exiled. Other, more extravagant stories tell of the earliest Black Flag Corsairs as a secret Bretonian military experiment gone wrong, or of them fleeing a dying parallel universe to travel the nothingness between dimensions and escape utter annihilation. That any of these tales are true is uncertain, however such stories extend more and more mystery about the ever growing pirate warband as they spread out across the galaxy. There are rumours of a man named Scarecrow, the founder and first Tyrant of the Black Flag Corsairs, who died shortly before Skyler Hawkins became Tyrant. Many believe that Hawkins killed this enigmatic ‘Scarecrow’ and took his place as the leader of the roaming pirate warband.
The Black Flag Corsairs have experienced a number of ups and downs, rising to a position of great power before falling back down into the mire of low life pirates and other scum. Thanks to this, they have developed a reputation for self destruction; each time they fall, it is due to internal corruption. The previous Tyrant, Skyler Hawkins, was killed in cold blood by one of his Elite, who was then killed by another in a violent murder of passion. The history of the Black Flag Corsairs is one of blood and violence, and thusly is one of damnation.
For several months now, since the murder of their second Tyrant, the Black Flag Corsairs have laid dormant, scattered throughout known space flying solo or with other fellow pirate groups. Rumours have it that a new, brash young pirate has stepped up to take the reigns and lead the Black Flag Corsaris unto glory once more. But will they face their enemies, both external and internal and come out triumphant, or will they fall as they have done many times already.
The BFC are a motley crew of hard, gritty pirates and mercenaries who have been gathered under one name to pillage and plunder a greater wealth for themselves. They are in no way related to the Corsairs of Hispanic origin, although they have on occasion been known to fly along side Corsair pilots. Their new Tyrant, Nathan McKane, believes that under one name, former individual pirates can make a better profit for themselves as opposed to what they would achieve flying solo. The Black Flag Corsairs have no exterior motives, no underlying political schemes and no ties to any of the House pirate factions. In this, they are a totally self sufficient, independent pirate faction who deals in every area of piracy and crime.
The Black Flag Corsairs are essentially a freelance pirate warband, who travel the Sirius sector looking for trouble and profitable ventures. We started out on Shattered Worlds, the first time around, and now we are back again for more. So if you’re interested in the pirate’s way of life; plundering transports, miners, convoys, conducting raids on military operations and generally irritating the lawman, then we’re the clan for you.
The [BFC] have no ties to the Cretian bound Corsairs, so don’t let the name confuse you. The word ‘corsair’ after all is simply a synonym to ‘pirate’. We generally keep fair relations with other unlawful factions, although our exact orientation depends upon the current train of RP.
We are a very role playing orientated faction, as the leader of the BFC I ask each member to create a fully workable character with a history including different strengths and weaknesses. Whilst I do love just playing the game for what it is, I think that adding our own touches to the universe create a whole new depth to the playing experience.
