I tried it, it works only when the child is STATION. Anyways, seems like I’ll have to separate the docking components in order to allow the player to dock with any of them. I tried docking the main object with a transport, then when I undocked it used an object with large moors rather than the main object. Both are defined as the same base, so it doesn’t have to be a child for it to randomly happen.

Great job on that! Seems like you’re one big step closer to migrating Freelancer into Unity.
Personally, I wouldn’t choose Unity for a game that should look serious, mainly because the engine’s shadowing makes everything look a little cartoon-ish. Nevertheless, I do believe Freelancer deserves to be remastered in a modern game engine, even though Micro$oft still own the rights

There’s quite an elaborate background to the unused models, but the bottom line is M$ held DA under a very tight schedule and they had to cut A WHOLE LOT of the game, including features we now see in popular mods ironically. But we should be glad that we got a Sirius Sector rather than the originally planned single system. The original game was meant to focus more on combat (e.g. weapon mods, a larger variety of weapon types, armor upgrades) rather than a vast universe to explore. Something like Borderlands with spaceships.

I honestly had no clue which keywords should I use to search this topic, so I’m afraid I’ll have to make a post.

I’m looking for a way to make modular parts of a station (its ‘children’) dockable, as if you dock the station through a part that’s considered its ‘child’ rather than a separated station that actually leads to the same base when docked.

I know people did it in Discovery 4.87/6, then it got removed for some reason (or is it still there?) so it’s obviously possible. Is there a plugin/hack I’m missing, or is it possible with some line in the vanilla .ini coding format? I haven’t found anything in Discovery’s files that leads to it.

Ever since Vista people have been complaining about Windows getting heavier and more complex. My first Windows was 98, and I always upgraded to the newer version no matter how harsh the feedback was. Sure, not all versions were really that great, but I must admit I never really had anything that made me say “wow, this is a really bad OS”. Sure, I’ve tried Ubuntu and other interpretations of Linux (as well as several versions of Mac OS), but none of them has really managed to do what Microsoft have been doing with Windows for all these years. None of them was nearly as user-friendly as Windows.

OP-R8R said it all, and I really have nothing to add about the OS itself. I just think that it’s much more competent to go ahead and try it, deal with all the issues you think you might have and eventually enjoy what Windows 10 has to offer rather than complaining about what it doesn’t.
There’s that old saying that says: “If nobody’s going to do it for you, do it yourself.” So if you’d rather build your own fully personalized OS than use Windows 10, make it your doing (or hire a crew to do it for you). Go and make the changes you want to see.

Are you running some audio card in your machine? If so, there might be some driver incompatibility which causes the audio entries to load slowly. If that’s the case, try and find some legacy drivers.

Otherwise, does the picture move smoothly? It might be a visual lag.

Hard Point Editor and HardCMP are the same program.
I could use the UTF editor, though it doesn’t give me visual feedback regarding hardpoint placement.

Somehow after a night of being off, it suddenly came to life and began working O.o
I really have no idea what I did. Probably some component that required a restart.

As always with a new Windows, there HAS to be some problem with FL or at least FL modding tools.
I upgraded my Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 (unfortunately and with lots of regret), and then this started happening:

(it should be black. also, it blinks.)
When I open a file, it crashes.
I guessed it is, most probably, a graphic card driver issue, and I tried running legacy drivers but it’s no use.

I really don’t know if anyone here still uses HardCMP. I haven’t looked for new tools ever since I saved my mostly used ones on a could server, so I currently have no other tool to edit hardpoints other than manually placing them (which is extremely buggy with the export plugins I use [that are probably outdated])

So sorry for the spam, but can anyone update me with new tools and utilities if any?
In case there’s no newer version, consider it a bug report.

Update: it didn’t work for me, you can still see through the mesh but at least the pilot is now visible.

Edit: Solved it, the glass group was my root group and that was all the matter.

Are you using AMD’s Game Booster? This might be the reason I don’t have such a problem with my R9 280.
Also it may be because I’m using Win 8.1.
Try this game booster, and if you already have it then disable it and then try.

I’ve been looking for solutions and eventually realized that in voices_male.ini, addins the minus after the “msg” entry is important. I solved it by renaming it to “gcs_refer_system_EW07-” in both the .ini and the .utf.

Yeah that’s the gun, sorry for the delay. Have you got an idea for a better place of the main gun?

I added a new system, and spliced a voice entry for specific voiced that will be refering to this system.

I added the new .wav file into the voice’s .utf archive, under the hash of it’s “msg_id_prefix” (gcs_refer_system_EW07; 0x83982148 ) and set a patrol to this jump hole.

Now, whenever I enter the system in which the jump hole is located, the game crashes. FLSpit says nothing about this hash.

Any help please?
