Community portal system

At this moment we use Joomla as portal system. Although its possible to customize everything you want we do miss some things and its “to much” for the things we need / want also the massive amounts of commercial plugins/mods is anoying as well.
What we need is:

Forum integration, preferably not a bridge

News submission

Download submissions
-
Caching system
-
Needs to be safe
-
Good support and security
If you have anyidea wich sytem would suite us please reply.
We did check some out, but none of them realy gave us a good feeling.Thanks in advance.

You could try MyBB, it’s a Forum but it’s very very custumizable
Forum integration(it is a Forum)
Article submissions(maybe in an own Category where posts are needed to be aproved?)
News submissions(on Portal, out of one Forum(where you let the users write and then aprove the posts))
Download submissions(there are/were good plugins)
Caching system(I think I saw that in ACP(Admin Control Panel))German support is good, don’t know about the English one
also the MyBB Forum has a lot of Features, that are easy to use, once you found them ;Dsorry for bad English

well i am only familiar with phpBB and icyphoenix. Both offer all what you demand. Where you need to work a bit in phpBB - icyphoenix has a lot of mods and funtionallity integrated…
