We all know that these two files are blank and not used by FL. However, we’ve run into problems in the past about having a truly empty file; FL doesn’t like that. To me, this seems to imply that FL does read the file, it just simply doesn’t use it. My question is, what if the functionality of these files are still in place and simply not used, much like, oh, vertical strafing?
If this is the case, what could we use the files for? What constants and entries should be put in them and what effect would said constants and entries have on the game? If the files are truly useless, what do you think their intended purpose was? It’d be interesting to probe this. It might be easiest for adoxa or someone else who can probe what is read and what isn’t to figure this out.

You can use engine good to add good entries to all the engines in the game so it shows engines as a visible entry in your inventory, if you use the engclass.dll which is somewhere around here you can have classes for the engines and powerplants and you can add them to hardpoints instead of having them added internally, and finally with good entries for your engines you can interchange and sell them at bases.
