Hello everyone im a complete newb around here, although ive been playing for a while i only just started playing online.
anyway.
I have moddeled this ship in preparation for a mod i want to start for freelancer.
it has 5100 tri’s and about 2700 polys i was wondering if thats too high, or if its about right, or i should put more detail into it, this is one of the largest ships that will be in the mod just incase you need to know that.

Hey man
Up to 20.000 polys is 100% ok man, even above that is still cool but you’ll need a little bit more work done in order to prepare the model for importing into the game.
If you’re looking for models have a look at my blog, all the models are available for download and you can use/edit them freely:

I had already taken the time to look over this forum and have seen your models, they are very proffessional and well made, however my mod plans to be like no other freelancer mod that exists.
it is not set in space, it will be set inside earths atmosphere.
it will also be a pvp mod, with the fighting area ranging from 30k cubed to 60k cubed.
anyway ill make a new post and explain fully since im not even sure if freelancer would be the right game to put this mod in and it may go to a more moddable game like UT3 or somthing.
Its good to know im working at low poly though, I dont want the mod to lag.
PS: when i click thumbnails like i posted above i get a “what you are trying to do has failed” notification, can people see it ok or do you also get an error, i dont know why its doing that… it does it on other forums too. >.<

I have the same error. It is probably a photobucket issue…

As I mentioned on Sol’s topic, you can go even higher than 20k without issue. You just have to make some adjustments If you ever need to know how, let me know, and I’ll send you the video on how it’s done.
