[Space Sim News]Eve Online: Tyrannis to introduce "Planetary Interaction"
-
In its newest update “Tyrannis” coming May 18th, Eve Online will introduce “Planetary Interaction” which is supposed to eventually connect to EVE-DUST 514, the upcoming FPS game within the EVE universe.
Trailer:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ms95NKFnhCUPlanetary Interaction brings a new dimension of industrial gameplay to EVE Online. Players will be able to establish colonies on planet surfaces to reap, refine and process materials into high-demand commodities for use or sale on the EVE market. New skills have been introduced, offering even more options for those capsuleers looking to turbo-charge their colonies. New players and veterans alike can dive into this exciting new feature the minute Tyrannis goes live.
While not comparable to Infinity Universe, the new planetary interaction marks a completely new gameplay feature never seen before in scope and scale. It will be very interesting to watch how the developers will integrate Dust 514 into the whole EVE-Universe and what kind of gameplay it will allow.

I love EVE trailers, they’re so well presented, cinematic, and not indicative of gameplay in any way. I’m okay with that because then it wouldn’t be a very interesting trailer. I always look forward to every new expansion because it always comes with a breathtaking trailer.

i tried out the planet interaction stuff on SiSi (the test server). suffice to say, it seems rather interesting, really. im looking forward to the new expansion myself, even though it’ll be a while before my industry alt will be at a stage where all of this would result in a bit of profit for me, atm he’s skilling up for 100% mining bonus and the ability to fly the rorqual, to aid the corp when we do mining sessions etc for ship building etc
im more interested how CCP will tie in dust, the console based FPS with EVE. hopefully, they’ll also get a move on station interaction soon as well so players can walk around etc.
and yeah, i was always a fan of EVE trailers/vids, they’re done pretty well.
also, youtube “Future proof”. some guys basically made a short movie based on eve, using the UT 3 editor. it -really- looks amazing, considering that alot of the work involved had -alot- of scripting etc as well.

I’m wondering what’s gonna happen with mineral and ship markets with the change of the insurance…
You know, it’ll now be based on market prices for minerals, not npc prices. Also some modifiers for different roles of t2 ships.-_-
And of course a lot of npc trade goods will now be produced on planets, including fuel for POSes, afaik. Will be interesting to see the effects as well.

I think a big team is working just on the trailers
