Non-Bases Bases

Don’t be confused by the subject. I’d like to ask if its possible to create a base which you don’t exactly dock. By this I mean that when you “dock” it, you don’t get inside it, but there appears a window with the options of “Trader”, “Missions”, “News” and things like this. Similar to Mooring but works with small ships too (jump type). Like a base in open space, that your ship stays outside. I planned to do a “Floating Mission Board” this way if its possible.
I assume it will involve some heavy FLHook editing, will it?

Maybe it could be made int multiplayer through FLHook, but singleplayer most definetly not because the docking part is hardcoded and there is not a thing resembling trading window or similar (maybe the scan window, but very unlikely).

i doubt about the efficiency of it. imagine, if youre on a base but not docked, you can be shot from space without any chance to defend yourself. is it that, what youre after? you can however code the base rooms to use shapes with windows outside of which you might see your ship in front of the docking point.

I planned souch things in places where there are no enemies.
What do you mean by “in front of the dicking point”? Inside the base or something?

well, what you see being on a base is a thn rather than anything real. it calls for the player ship but it hasnt to. it also does define where the ship is, where charecters are, what shape the room/planetscape has etc etc. so, you can make your base rooms look absolutely custom, you could even see your ship outside of the bar, as if it were in space and in front of it the mooring satellite or whatever thingy you use to dock. it won’t be outside actually, you will be docked with the base, but you’d see your ship being still in space while your character “went through the corridor” outside into the rooms of the base.
