Idea: Ship modularity?

Hi? What do you think about possibility of upgrading the ship by some details? Upgrade LF to VHF with one shiparch entry? In-game? With interest to players and extending a gameplay?

thrusters have already a visual mesh, you can make it whatever you want it to look like and limit it to a certain ship class. unfortunately this doesn’t count for engines. however, thrusters also do only modify the speed on thruster usage. armor upgrades can also have a visual mesh on the ship. cargo extenders are so far impossible (feature in development?) while you can have visual cargo pods.

Gisteron, i understand. But how to mount them? Is it possible to buy an attachment which gives additional weapon mounts? How to realise?

additional weapon mounts are not (yet?) possible as far as i know. but changing the visual mesh together with some technical data is part of the game already.

About the topic, G-man has a point. Its impossible yet to enhance the rank of a ship. Use hardwear to add those stuff on your gunboat, also on other ships as you want.
Don’t mind if I “steal” the idea, do you?

I don’t think adding weapon hardpoints would be possible (what’s in the cmp is what you’re stuck with), but hiding existing ones might be, only showing them when you have a certain item or rank. Don’t hold your breath, though…

What about buying additional hull parts?
I added engines like thrusher, but i dont know how to add other hull parts…

I was wrong, its in select_equip -> [Armor] section for armor scale or [CargoPod] section for cargo extenders.(Extending under development)
