Sound & Windows 7
-
Hi, I’m at a lost so I’m really hoping someone can help me out.
When I first installed Freelancer there was no sound after the first 3 videos (2 producer and the intro) and the menu loaded. I’ve managed to get some sound running, but the first video for a new game doesn’t have any music and the voices after the missles are fired don’t play. Then once the game moves to Planet Manhattan there are no sounds. There are some sounds in the bar, but just voices, no sound effects.
I’ve searched on Google a lot and tried several things:
- I’ve installed and uninstalled a codec pack
- run a codec analysis tool to reset my audio codecs to windows 7 default
- run a patch to change the (german looking name) codec from the advanced to the professional version
- enabled and disabled 3D sound
- copied the l3codec file into the freelancer directory
- run the exe in admin and compatability mode
- installed the unofficial patch (Unofficial FL SP Patch 1.40)
Once upon a time I did have some of the X series of games installed, I read that may have some affect, but I’m not positive. They are all uninstalled now.
I’m wide open to suggestions, I’d really like to get this game working to tide me over until Star Citizen comes out. Thank you!
