Mod DB incomplete !?
-
Hi everybody
I am a veteran FL-player, first time logged in on lancersreactor.com more than 10 years ago. Still FL is installed on my rig.
I recently discovered your site and I see that some of the major mods are not listed in your Mod DB. Missing files ? I still have lots of Mods on one of my HDs (Rebalance, Evolution, Hostile Universe, to name a few).If you want those files and if you want to host them, i can transfer them to you. Of course I am not in the position to give you the rights for hosting the files. That must be looked at separately.
You can also e-mail-me (see profile)

You’re going to have to be more explicit in what you mean by “Mod DB”. We have a downloads area, which has a lot of stuff, some of it corrupted (we just ported the old TLR database over). We’ve not really looked into cleaning it up because we don’t have explicit permissions for a lot of the stuff so it’s a largely grey area.
If you’re meaning Mod DB as in the site, we have no control over that. It’s up to the mod teams (most of which are long gone) to create their own page there.

Maybe talking about this: http://the-starport.net/freelancer/wiki/index.php/Freelancer_Mods
You can edit the Wiki if you want to add any missing mods (in fact anybody can edit the Wiki to add missing information).
You can also upload stuff to our Download database, I’m sure most of the modders of the older mods dont care. -

I’d still ask though, if possible (i.e. if the author is known and cares to respond if reached through his old contact data), just for the sake of fairness, politeness, protocol and good manners.

OK, thanks for the replies. I understand that the person who uploads files must have the “rights” of the stuff or must have the permission of those who have the “rights”.
I am not talking about MS copyright, but about the modders.I’ll see what I can do
