How do I destroy a Nomad Battle Ship

I’ve done this twice before, but I can’t figure it out now. Very frustrated. As soon as I get close enough to the thing to fire at it, it kills me in five seconds. What am I supposed to do. I have the most advanced equipment I can get, and I still die in five seconds.
