All models are in OBJ format and very low poly. I agree it’s the textures that make these models look as good as they are. Seeing as the models are his and not mine, i’d suggest a visit to the forum where he’s to be found.

These models are for an ELITE clone called Oolite which is a remake of the old classic but fully modable. You’ll have to register but then you can send him a pm. Same nonsense i went through tbh, but it pays off as Griff is a very nice fella and i’m sure he’ll say yes.

Hey guys
I made a redesign of an older model of mine for someone, called Xarian Fighter. Basically I made the model very low poly and also applied a texture on it. Unfortunately the project was ended prematurely because of a problem I have with my pc for the past week which is preventing me from finishing the texture. Anyway, if you like the ship, use it and have fun.

I’ve done another redesign of an older model called “Kece Industrial Facility”.

Nice one, that will make a really good raw materials facility in GE.

Glad i’m not the only one then. I made one using the OBJ converter but first few attempts and hardcmp kept crashing. Only way i managed it was to cut a few things off the tradelane. I’ll try with the complete model again, maybe it was something i screwed up

Looking good, I’ve put Kece and Kono in the game already. The building will make for another fine addition for one of the planet surfaces.
Good work Sol!

Man, i’m so impressed i just registered in to bother you a little with a weird petition…
Can you make me… a planet?
See, i want to make a planet bigger enough so it can take all the space playable in a regular Freelancer system (like 150 - 200k radius or 300k diameter). Of course the difficult side of this is not only the polygon count, but the TEXTURE.
Whatever, help me if you want and while you can. Sorry for mispellings, my english is a joke. See ya and thanks for sharing your hard work with the community!

Here’s three great threads on making custom planets. There are plenty of very large planet textures available out on the web. Here’s a site I’ve used before to get textures that I then customise.
http://planetpixelemporium.com/planets.htmlAlternatively just do an image search on google for “planet textures” and select size above 4MP.
Hope this helps - if you have any further problems or questions about planet texturing I suggest eiter continue one of the older threads or start a new one.
Cheers,

For textures that you can make (I have to make alot of these for my engine), all you have to do is make a sphere to put it on.
Filter Forge, Texture Maker and Genetica

Hey Keymon
Well, what you’re asking for sounds a lot like a procedural generated planet and I’ve seen some used in other games so you should ask for more details from someone who deals with those and see if such a model can be imported in Freelancer.
If I were to manually model a huge planet with detailed mountains and stuff it would take somewhere between forever and an eternity to finish the planet and it would have like a billion billion polygons haha
Sorry I couldn’t help you further m8. -
Hey guys
Here’s something really quick which I did mostly for fun. They are a couple of variations to my old MK110 model. Figured they could be used in games as upgrades, like “Type1” / “Type2” etc.

Nice!
Thanks Sol, I was (or planning to) using that gun, so this will be a cool addition!
