If you wanna read the background stories I wrote for them, check the posts on my blog.

Looking good, I’ve put Kece and Kono in the game already. The building will make for another fine addition for one of the planet surfaces.
Good work Sol!

Man, i’m so impressed i just registered in to bother you a little with a weird petition…
Can you make me… a planet?
See, i want to make a planet bigger enough so it can take all the space playable in a regular Freelancer system (like 150 - 200k radius or 300k diameter). Of course the difficult side of this is not only the polygon count, but the TEXTURE.
Whatever, help me if you want and while you can. Sorry for mispellings, my english is a joke. See ya and thanks for sharing your hard work with the community!

Here’s three great threads on making custom planets. There are plenty of very large planet textures available out on the web. Here’s a site I’ve used before to get textures that I then customise.
http://planetpixelemporium.com/planets.htmlAlternatively just do an image search on google for “planet textures” and select size above 4MP.
Hope this helps - if you have any further problems or questions about planet texturing I suggest eiter continue one of the older threads or start a new one.
Cheers,
Rik -
For textures that you can make (I have to make alot of these for my engine), all you have to do is make a sphere to put it on.
Filter Forge, Texture Maker and Genetica

Hey Keymon
Well, what you’re asking for sounds a lot like a procedural generated planet and I’ve seen some used in other games so you should ask for more details from someone who deals with those and see if such a model can be imported in Freelancer.
If I were to manually model a huge planet with detailed mountains and stuff it would take somewhere between forever and an eternity to finish the planet and it would have like a billion billion polygons haha
Sorry I couldn’t help you further m8. -
Hey guys
Here’s something really quick which I did mostly for fun. They are a couple of variations to my old MK110 model. Figured they could be used in games as upgrades, like “Type1” / “Type2” etc.

Nice!
Thanks Sol, I was (or planning to) using that gun, so this will be a cool addition! -
Good to hear you found a use for it.
Now here’s another model I just made right now in about half an hour. This one is a piece of furniture, so it’s not really scifi

Here’s my new model called “Vandal”. This ship has several modules that you can choose from to make the model as you like it.
-
Solcommand good ship for smuggler-mercenary ))
(junkery-hunter) -
In case anyone’s interested in using this ship, I forgot to mention that all the variations use the same texture file so that’s a plus for using it in the game.
-
Nice work Sol, I needed some ships for miscellaneous pirates and these will fit the bill nicely

First of all - very nice looking models!
Second (sorry for off-topic), I must ask why my ships cant load textures from one .mat file outside directory where the cmp and sur files r?
I need to make duplicates with same name and place them in same directory.
The vanilla Eagle, Falcon, and rest civilian ships use one mat file.
Hard CMP loads textures and game loads textures.
My custom ships in Hard CMP log says it found its textures in file but they dont show!
Game also dont load textures even in Shiparch.ini I set correct path to file.
To not rise the mod size with mats I use:<data file="data\ships\3MAJ\3MAJ-F\3MAJ-F.mat" method="copyfile" sourcefile="data\ships\3MAJ\3MAJ.mat" scanfile="false"></data> <data file="data\ships\3MAJ\3MAJ-HF\3MAJ-HF.mat" method="copyfile" sourcefile="data\ships\3MAJ\3MAJ.mat" scanfile="false"></data> <data file="data\ships\3MAJ\3MAJ-VHF\3MAJ-VHF.mat" method="copyfile" sourcefile="data\ships\3MAJ\3MAJ.mat" scanfile="false"></data> <data file="data\ships\3MAJ\3MAJ-BS\3MAJ-BS.mat" method="copyfile" sourcefile="data\ships\3MAJ\3MAJ.mat" scanfile="false"></data> ```This also fails to load in game! Strange! Why? EDIT* changed only on client side and it works now. Also in HARD CMP loads corectly. Hmmmm….
