Prefered Versions of Milkshape

Which one is the best? Right now I use version 1.7.4. It has issues, but for the most part, I’ve been able to circumnavigate past them. But since a hard drive has afforded me the opportunity to rethink this… what should I “upgrade” to?
If they all have issues, which is the lightest poison to pick?

There’s a Surfile “kit” somewhere?.. can’t recal where, that includes version 1.8.2 m8… I use both 1.7.4 & 1.8.2… apart from a few extra plugins (for my HL2/XSI stuff mainly) not much of a difference have i found…
but i only just loaded up 1.8.2 to try and convert some of the more troublesome models that crashed in 1.7.4… and so far they still crash…
kinda curious myself as to what 1.8.2 offers for FL modding? I am also curious about why some models fail and other “bigger” ones have no problems

I had problem with the versions too m8, i asked many people about it, and almost all of them advised the 1.8.4 so i use it also.
So far, i havent had any problems with the modelling, true i didnt start the converting procedure of my ships into cmp so i have no experience on it. But those guys who work with this version said, this is stable, no issues or crashes, nor in game. -
One side note, there are some older model formats in FL that use an entirely different layout and no importer yet made will open them. You’ll know if you open it up with UTF editor and see “openFLAME 3D N-mesh”, “Rigid body”, etc. Then there’s the UI models, which don’t have a VMesh in the same file. That’s going to be a very long process piecing them together seeeriously.
