A friend of mine got me into it, but i can safely say am not that good and im sure im annoying my mate because im asking some silly questions haha…. is understandable tho. So basically im just asking is there any threads i should read up 1st before any others? ive had a look about but dunno what part to start with. Help would be much appreciated.

Hi and welcome.
Modding is a wide scope in Freelancer. You may want to do the programming (ini file changes) or you may prefer modelling ships, bases etc.
A good place to start is to take a look at the coding forum here
and also look at the modelling forum here.
That will give you some idea of what others are doing, to decide what you want to attack first.
Then have a look at the Tutorials forum here
That will get you started in the area you are interested in looking into.
Here’s a good ship creating tutorial by Drizzt to get you started, since it’s hard to find here is the link:-
http://the-starport.net/freelancer/download/singlefile.php?cid=5&lid=537There is also a repository of Freelancer Tech Tips and Tutorials here:-
http://forums.seriouszone.com/showthread.php?58875Then just ask specific questions when you need some help, but give us some evidence that you are trying and give us some detail, like suspect code, or a screenshot of your problem.
Good luck!

in the freelancer community network you can find the Starport Archive. the tutorials section there contains most of the common basics while this forum here is more advanced therefore more accurate with variables. however, especially the coding basics are better to be looked up over at the archive.
