Something a little… Different (weapon fx)

Well with my numbers man off getting hammered to celebrate end of exams, I figured I’d play around a bit to see what’s the happy hap in effects. After testing a few ideas I was given for Electronic Warfare stuff, I came upon a new idea that has no relevance to the mod, but something I’d like to try nevertheless.
Sometimes, as much as I try to hold it in, that side of me escape, and here we are with me asking those with more know-how in how I could pull off something like this.
Take your time to facepalm before moving on.
Now, to be a little more specific, I would like to create an effect like the rune Nanoha has in front of her hand, spinning. I would also like it to ‘grow’ to that size, and either shrink back in or fade away.
I’ve had a bit of a play around, and replaced small-flare in sarma.txm with a rune, just to have a bit of a play around. (I realise how often this texture is called on ) and it creates a cool effect on the Justice flash at default settings.
Cool, but not what I want. I also tried it with a bigger flash, the lib flak one, which got me a lot closer to what I wanted, but unfortunately it was way too fast (well, it is a flash )
Basically, I’m not really sure what to do in order to achieve the above. I had a poke around with the ale decoder, but it’s all really just gibberish to me at the moment, and my searches for a tutorial have come up empty (besides a lot of returns for people who can’t find tutorials )
Anyway, I was kinda hoping someone here would look past my inspiration to help me make this effect. xD
Thanks for your time!

Look into changing the lifetime of the flash’s ALE entry. That should help you accomplish what you need.
The best way to learn anything about modding Freelancer is to play with settings until you figure out what you think you can do to get what you want. ALEs are like this too.

Okay, well I was playing around in the justice’s (li_laser_01) ale, and I presume I need to edit the flash node’s lifespan?
Well, I tried that, raising it up to 300 (from 2 or 3), but it didn’t seem to change anything at all.
I’m using the XML project.
