Cannot use shield batteries - Bug?

Hi,

I’m playing through Freelancer for the first time, and am enjoying it very much! But, I’ve run into something odd in Mission 6 that I can’t find any mention of via searches.

Upon leaving the mining station with Dr. Quintaine on our way to Leeds, we’re attacked by Rheinlanders. In this battle, however, I’m unable to use my shield batteries. I have a full supply (15), but when I press the mapped key or click the icon, I get no shield replenishment. This hasn’t happened before, so I’m guessing it’s either a bug or there was some mention of it in the plot that I missed (ie-you can’t use shields in this area, etc.).

Can anyone please tell me if this is some kind of bug? If so, is there a fix for it? Should I just try reloading a previous save (I planned on doing this next)?

Any help/ideas would be very much appreciated!

do u have any mod installed?

i just fired up vanilla FL and loaded a save @ mission 6.
won the race, docked on hood, undocked and kicked some rheinland asses (funny how easily a vanilla corvette dies :S)
reloading via bats and bots was no problem, so maybe u just have to reload the game, which takes a minimum amount of time compared to posting here

hope i kinda helped and if the problem persist, u can try louvas quickfix or JFLP

Yeah, I loaded a previous save and the problem was gone. Weird that no one has ever encountered this before, but I can continue now, so all is well.

I’ll just need to be sure to save as often as possible (which I try to do anyway) in case this happens again.
