Which Server tools work with Windows 7?
-
Trying to set up a server on Windows 7. Got that part nailed, i can connect, the world is rosy.
I’m now trying to use Ioncross to aid moving around in the universe. Crashes everytime i activate it. Says there’s a missing component. Tracked it down, put it where it’s supposed to go, registered it in the registry, still won’t work.
Onto FLAC. No go there, nobody seems to have got that working without creating a virtual server. Sounds like a pain to get all that running just so a few of us can have a bit of fun.
Open to suggestions

iron cross server op works for me in windows 7 here try the version included in this it should work
http://www.moddb.com/mods/the-order-mod/downloads/the-order-mod-server-operator-kit
this was mine I zipped this together along time ago try it out -
Thanks for the replies
-EDIT-
Well after messing about with both programs, can’t get either to run. Ioncross is still crying for a dependency, even though i found the file on the net and added it.
DSAccount Manager. I read the readme, did exactly as it says but that crashes on loadup. To be fair i don’t have FLHook, but according to the readme i don’t really need it. What bugs me is i’m trying to enter the path to the player files but it won’t let me as all it does is tell me the path is wrong and then closes the application, so how am i supposed to edit it if it keeps closing?
And what is the Ion Cross directory in the path selector? I thought this was a different program.

Oh, this is for compatibility with some mods. It’s not needed, leave it blank.
I’m pretty sure the program is having trouble initialising the SQL database or the SQL library that lets it access the database…hence it screwing up.
Are you using 64 bit Windows 7? There’s a dll included with the program “System.Data.SQLite.dll”. Are you using the 64 bit version – it should be included with the distribution?
Failing that, go here http://system.data.sqlite.org/index.html/doc/trunk/www/downloads.wiki and download a new copy of the library from here.
Btw, all of the source code for the program is here: http://forge.the-starport.net/projects/dsam
If you could find and maybe fix the problem, that’d be cool. Please post how if you do…

Thanks for the tips Cannon, i’ll give those a go later. Yes i am using Win7 64bit. This is the only thing i’m finding frustrating with the move to Win7 is that some things work as before, whereas some things don’t, and trying to get some form of server software working seems to be one of the items that i’m struggling with.

dsam is trying to get the gamedata files of ISO for the modded (and/or vanilla) parts of the installation. It is grabbing the player files from the default directory afaik - my advice would be a complete new installation of freelancer, ioncross (without the need to use it, just to register the path) and dsam (additional probably dspm). All that should be done under the same user with admin privileges enabled. This way the server (modded or unmodded) should run without a problem. If additional problems occure you may try to run the flserver with one core only or build a proper compatibility setting. Our Server is running on WS 2008 rc2 in 64 bit mode as a windows service this way - it should be equal to a win7 64 inst. imO. Best is (thanks to the developers of dsam and dspm) after starting a user the programs access the running services instead of building a new instance.
