Freelancer Continuum - Taken
-
Lovely.
First and foremost there should be the question how an official SWAT project disappears from the SWAT Development Group at Moddb just to reappear in your newly created group. Next question is why this happened without that anyone of us has been informed or permission was requested prior such a “transferal”, which I also could call “theft”.
The Moddb staff apparently did see the situation similar and returned the Mod profile to its original owner and creator. If someone is to blame then that would be the people which started this treacherous actions in first place (you).
Maybe I should be glad that you didn’t take Crossfire from me?
On Sunday, May 8th 2011 you contacted me first time seeking help to create a discovery rip-off called “Freelancer Alternative Universe”. On May 10th I voiced my concerns (copyrights etc.) in a message to you. One day later I suggested that you join the SWAT Dev team instead and work with us on a Community mod. Everyone who joined the team agreed to that… which leads me to the next question: What gives you the right to declare this agreement to be invalid now? It was a community project… that means developed by the members of the community… that means not only you. You had absolutely no right to do what you did.
But ok, a few days after you agreed to our agreement I told you about a concept to link the new project with the already existing Crossfire. Creating a story which in the end combines these mods and call that thing “Continuum”. That was pretty much the birth of the Mod project as part of the SWAT Community.
You btw. confirmed this at the Continuum Moddb profile in 2013 (i think it was in October) and in your various PMs to me.
Your friend Void_Nemesis_gof2 was so busy desperately deleting/hiding user comments from the mod profile… really… 6 pages of deleted user comments which show who was the developer and what the idea behind this project was.Your contribution to the project consisted of uploading a few rendered imaged of some untextured and messed up 3d models which you never really were willing to share with the SWAT dev team and writing a few stories. Thats it.
Your last “activity” as member of the dev team was in August 2011… since that nothing. Oh wait… you also requested to work on Crossfire and were added to the dev boards. We are still waiting for your contribution.
Arghh… better not. You certainly would claim ownership on CF then.I certainly dont want to use anything you have created so you can take your 3d models and your stories and do with them whatever you have done in the past 3 years with them.
Weird is a bit that at moddb you wrote in a comment that you want to rename the project to “SpaceLancer” and in your message from Monday, April 22nd 2013 you wrote
in the mean time I thought well about Continuum, and I want to say I didn’t loved it’s idea. It’s old fashioned and kinda done for me. Currently I just rediscovered my “vocation” for writing and I am doing a novel, named “SpaceLancer”
.
So… ehmmm when you are done with Continuum and pretty much telling me in that message that you are completely dropping our of this project… why in gods name are you then hijacking our mod profile and making such idiotic ownership claims here? You want to create a new mod project? Then take your work, go to moddb and create a new mod profile there instead of causing such a stupid fuss here. Or was your only intention of your actions to cause troubles to us? Thats practically the only thing you have achieved. Congratz.
PS. I think just alone the existence of this thread here answers my last question

We are gathering resources again and continuous planning about what to bring, we’ll make further updates and official announcements when we are ready to present some ideas. More achievable but still delivering the same feeling.
Huor, I have friends on skype from the Crossfire’s dev team. So I know how you are in general. But I just got the impression OP does w/e he wants and says w/e he wants no matter what. The little “quarrel” so to speak, was between me and OP but because of such actions, people can change their opinion. But as I’ve seen on the moddb the page has been removed and it’s for the best. I’ll make a new fresh one soon when we planned more.
PS: And of course you bring again irrelevant arguments here again OP. From that quote I specified that I didn’t liked that Continuum idea to be linked with Crossfire. I dropped it because I already wrote an entire new baseline and backbone of the lore.
The comments about the “developer” ? Are you seriously trying to prove that you were the developer because you commented on some of the moddb’s members questions. During that time yes, since you wanted to provide support on this mod, you did that indeed. Nobody asked you to do it, or forced you to do it.
And while I had/have all the mod content aboard my PC, I think my direct implication was never ended. It could’ve ended if you had everything I had on my PC. All the files that were created in the first place.
And again, because of your exagerated reactions you have here again, I prove myself and the others that either way, it would’ve ended the same. No matter what. So on this you can say whatever you want. My point was made.
I’ve seen we reached a consensus with the moddb page, while you finally removed it. So we can start with fresh information that is underway. You should’ve done that in the first place when you received my first pm about this and not begin to complain about our legit desire to work on our own on the mod. This conversation as the entire post could’ve been avoided if you’d removed the page from the beginning, I would’ve agreed since it was your work on the detailing and and other page-related details.

You seem to be very focused on me doing the decisions at SWAT without asking every single member before (not that there is a single community where this is done different).
Well, Continuum was a Community mod. That means the work was done by the community… not only by you. Have you even cared to asked the community if you are allowed to remove the content from there? Have you gotten the permission from the other people that contributed?
No?
Well, I guess you have just done a decision to take the mod then.Look into the mirror Silviu.
PS. How should I have removed anything? and why?
I received your message shortly after it was written (2 hours after) and at this point the page was already transfered. Next to that there was not even the request to remove anything. -
Last time I remember right, only I contributed since the majority of the actual work that exists is done entirely by me. For 3 years, no community effort was done for Continuum. I waited for that promise, even asked you about on the SWAT Portal, but nothing happened.
So far I didn’t received any complaints from any of the community members you speak of, even those who were “contributing” more or less, never said a word about it. I don’t private anyone from this, but I decided that after all, it would be best if it would be an independent development team as it was in the first place.
-
no work was done by others? Well then you apparently dont have all the work on your hdd.
-
… mod profile, mod website, forum, 4 playable systems with working map transitions, AI, interface, multiplayer, particle effects, physics, targeting system, docking sequences (eventhough i have to admit that the bases were not working yet) and of course graphical work.
Putting this aside there are 38 contributions to the lore that were not done by you (which is btw. the majority of the lore that was published for the work on the mod). There also was conceptional work on possible system layouts, economy, roleplay, equipment and ships.
Your official contributions to these topics were minimal (and in the past 3 years non-existent).That I also convinced a good amount of modders to offer their help with the project apparently also is forgotten.
To tell us that you have done all the work that you have all the work on your HDD is simply not true. Which brings me back to my previous statement: it was a community project and at no point of time you had the right to do what you did with it this week. Period!
-
I know what I have on my HDD and I kept the track of what and who contributed. The system editing, the graphical assets were done by the Continuum mod members 3 years ago. Even some of the lore that was considered to be added. The “community” as you like to tell it, did nothing in the last 3 years. If they were I would’ve known for sure since I checked on a regular basis the swat forums. What I done so far with some other fellas was originally saved. The other content which was stored on your variant of lancer’s reactor was just for ideas. There was nothing determined, and since all the others left, I remained to ponder and think about new ideas for it.
And again in 3 years things can surely change, Continuum is not a community mod anymore, that idea dropped a long time ago when actually nothing was created after the continuum dev team members left.
I am not gonna continue to argue with you because again it’s worthless. People contacted me to work on this with them again and this is what will happen.
-
So you have kept us working on “our” variant to collect ideas for “your” variant? Its getting better and better.
Btw. who decided that its no community mod anymore? You?
(maybe i should be glad that the news about such a decision didnt reach me 3 days prior the release)
At this point i also like to mention that your work on this project is just like the written lore (written by the other devs) also older than 3 years and since that absolutely nothing new was published anywhere. You make claims here that are so far away from reality, you’ve made good amount of statements which are conflicting with each others and in the end it meanwhile also looks like you have been trying to fool us the entire time.
Fact is you didnt do all the work.
Fact is you didnt have the right to make a decision about a community mod.
Fact is you have hijacked the Continuum project while actually intending to work on your “SpaceLancer”.
Fact is you dont have all the done work on your HDD… all you have is a few stories and a few unfinished 3d models. All this mess looks to me like you just intended to cause troubles to us. If so, you succeeded…if not, you clearly did something wrong this week.
Whatever your reasons behind your actions were you didnt waste a single second to think about the wishes and expectations of the community members, the players, the watchers at moddb and all the other people that were hoping for more than 3 years that Continuum would be the sequel to Crossfire, created by the dev team of the SWAT Portal. Maybe you are perfectly good at ignoring all the comments of the people at that mod profile which were stating exactly this. -
Fact is, you are again trying to prove that I’m wrong while using words and phrases. While the facts are all on me.
The expectations of the moddb and all other players are still the same, they want to see the uniqueness of the mod design I showed. They care less by who is done.
And yes I have all the rights to get my mod “back”. It lasted for 3 years in a dormant state. Don’t be hypocrite enough and say people worked on it or you where right to it.
There are no stories or “unfinished models”. The models are actually quite finished and under analysis by some other people, they are very good to be implemented. Again since, in essence I created the idea of this mod and still do, I can do whatever I wish with it. And it’s not your right I guess to dictate that I have no rights over my work. Don’t play the victim again and rather work on Crossfire. I guess the community on moddb is still having “expectations”.
This was my last response towards you, because you cannot understand the whole image, you exagerate with your claims and cannot be reasoned with you.

Guys I’m not new here so I have the right to make this comment.
You have a dispute over a project, which has happened in other cases before too.
What such a public fuss does is defame the project, so people will be less interested in it.
Think it over.
-
you are right about that… such an issue should have been dealt with in a more civilized way in first place instead of starting it here
unfortunately by now this project is gone
