good work Bas
-
However, didnt got a reply from GS magazine till yet.
BUT I started a [email protected], and it really seems that the most newbies found their way to FL MP through google. So our aim shouldā¦ - NO, IT MUST BE SEO.
-
Nicely done BAS.
I am kinda free from committments right now. So if I can help, please email me [email protected].

my personal idea is too increase the SEO by using very directly domain names and meta tags like freelancer-patch.de.vu, freelancer-multiplayer.info, freelancer-server-online.blabla etc. and redirect them to a GLS Workaround download-page
Hm - and it even wouldnt be that hard ^^
(afaik domain names are a very important searching creteria for search-engines.
NOTE: I am a noob at that, so dont rely on my guessing ^^)

Rooiiieeee, added ya to MSN, mate.
-
Have talked directly to xfb4it (via IM) and she will redirect my e-mail to a other staff member who is responsible for hosting patches @ http://www.xfire.com (Yeah I know that ya can connect via xfire to the servers but many newbies dont know, I got whispered then and then how I was able to play at a server)
-
I know someoneā¦
I will ask and see if she can put the idea into the right peoples head.
-
I can email a few Serbian and Croatian PC magazines (I send them enough emails anyway, they practically know me lol :D), I was actually planning to do a similar thing recently.
If we could all put our efforts together, with this community from all over the world, we have the means to start a Freelancer revolution!

Adding FL to steam would see the end of āusāā¦
Just look at how modifiable other added titles have become since
being integratedā¦ thatās a huge 0ā¦ Steam rewites the code to be compliant withā¦ erā¦ steamā¦ & nothing elseā¦ a few games have survived thisā¦ but there SP titles only, MP must comply with the VACAll the above is goodā¦ just do yeselfs a BIG favor and stay away from myspace gaming forumsā¦ I was roasted by a admin there for trying to revive/start a FL movementā¦ they were quite rude about it actuallyā¦
Quote:- āno one gives a S*%tā
To be honestā¦ (in AUS) if it wasnāt for that fateful day i had some Xmas $$ and requested a trip to EB to spend itā¦ I would have never found FL as thatās the only copy Iāve ever seen on the shelvesā¦ that was 7 years agoā¦ I get treated like some silly hippy retro freak if i even mention it to store owner/managersā¦ even from my friends.
That saidā¦ there is still a glimmer of light in the fact our only real PC game mag down here does a mod sectionā¦ & FL has appeared at least every 16 months or soā¦ so obviouslyā¦ were doing something rightā¦

Huh???
OH, In the older games like Freelancer your only talking about the Valve Games Arenāt Youā¦I hear the Non-Valve older titles are quite āEunuchedā and āSterilizedā in the MOD area to fit into Steam.

What are you talking about? Nearly any moddable game thatās been added to steam is still just as moddable, with the exceptions perhaps being some more complex mods for some other games, games donāt loose their moddability -
Actually, games put into Steam often amount to the whole content getting dumped into the steamapps folder, no other change made.

Gentlemen, way too soon to debate at any matter.
I hope that āIFā they add Freelancer they not limit it to only official publisher files. And āIFā they allow community MODās they are not forced to meet a standard for approval. Because āIFā that is a case it rubs a lot of MOD makers the wrong way. But, I seriously doubt that is a lot of āIFā we will have to worry aboutā¦ Very Long Odds they will accept a title with a Original Release Date of March 4, 2003 into the Steam Catalog.

Yes I know Iām reviving quite an old thread, just wondering what actually happened with any of this and if anything took a step forward? And if anything is still being done for this or if you guys are going to try again once the new engine is released?

Things seem fairly active around here, but Iām beginning to get the feeling that I came to Freelancer/Starport a bit too late. I checked Steam and GOG to no avail.
When I first started it up, I was pretty shocked at how modern it played. I guess great UI doesnāt age much. I donāt know why this wouldnāt have a place as a digital download somewhere, along with a corresponding revival. With Steamās recent support for modding Skyrim, one would think Freelancer could fit in with that model.
Anyway, pardon a noob and his ignorance. Iāll get back to familiarizing myself with the game so I can try my hand at multiplayer without shaming myself.
