ISSUE: I often cannot submit posts for a while
-
EDIT The original title was:
I often cannot submit posts during night time (my time zone: GMT+1)
but I just found out that I have that issue on other parts of the day as well. (I just happen to be here more often in the late hours, so it’s then that I notice it most.)I am often getting the same error message that you get when spend too long with a reply (a functionality which, btw, I never understood the purpose of, but that’s a different matter).
The difference is that, when it’s just the cause that there is too much time between beginning a post and submitting it, you simply submit again and then it works, while in the case of the bug, this message keeps being renderend.
Eventually (usually the next) day, I am able to submit again.
The latest example is this post that I wrote somewhere around 2:00 PM I think (but it might also have been 1:00 PM or 3:00 PM), but were able to submit only minutes ago.
-
Same for me. For a while I would enter my text, copy it and try to submit. If it didn’t take I’d log out, clear my cache, and log back in. Then I’d paste my text in and it would work.
But, not the second time… Sometimes it seemed like I need to do it for every post.
-
It used to be that I’d reply, submit, exceed session time, resubmit, done. Recently (just started a couple of weeks ago, I think, although I haven’t been too active, so perhaps with the switch to https?) that hasn’t worked. I successfully submitted a post last night, immediately edited it, and that failed; logged out & in twice before it was accepted.
-
I was just going to post something about this. I keep getting a session timed out message when trying to submit/edit a post.
-
Yep, that’s what happens to me as well. I think I’ve noticed it primarily when editing a post.
-
Can’t that ‘timed out’ functionality be turned off? Maybe it would eliminate this issue, and I can’t see a use for it anyway*.
I mean, the “Why don’t you take a break and come back in 30 seconds” prevents spamming, but why would anyone mind if I’d take, say, 6 hours to write a post?
*(Well, that’s not entirely true: on a forum with heated debates it might be less convenient to take too long for a reply because meanwhile, other people might have written new posts. I still wouln’t find it a great idea then, but I presume this might be why it was invented.)
BTW at the moment, I have to relog about every other post

Test

At least that one worked right away.
-
That one too.
-
Based on the contrast before and after your tweaks, I will carefully assume that you might have nailed it If so, great work, thanks!!
-
Ouch. Am I now the only one able to post here? Did w0dk4’s fix split off my bulb of spacetime from the rest of the universe?
-
I might have cheered too early: just had to relog to be able to submit a post

I think we’re coming close to the point where we’ll have to ditch Xoops if we want to have a functional website for the future, but unfortunately I don’t think we have the manpower to redesign and port the site right now.
-
Well, I never had any issues. Might be another problem then?

So it definitely makes a lot of difference!

When I did my last post, I got the issue. I really couldn’t post it, so I checked for multiple things. My message was around 1000 characters, and that is only after lowering to 994 characters, that I could post it.

Got this today.
