Hmm, I both agree and disagree. All of my experienced modeling friends say that making a model with high polys is dumb, and in part I understand, cause they have shown me otherwise. you can make models high detail and low poly. But that only comes with experience. Much of the detail can be left to the texturing of a model. Many little cuts and grooves wont be noticeable anyway unless the model is big enough for your small fighters to actually fit in them. Just an example though.

Oh hey, Dark Angel, thankyou. I can deffinetaly use large ships. If you want to jump on an instant messanger we can work out the details.
I deinetaly like the idea of putting the entire ship’s information in the info cards. That way when you jump in a ship that you haven’t seen before you can look up the data and you can se what mod it’s from, who made it, and all the neet little things about it.
Edit: I thought about what I said in another post about hyper balancing the sci-fi ships to what they origenaly were designed to be like, I think I will turn FL-PVP into a “nascar” sorta. In the idea of keeping all the data complete and to it’s true form from each creator. That way when you fly the ship, use the weapons, and read the info card data, it all points to it’s origen. Kinda like “sponcers” of the product. Hope that gets across the way I’m trying to say it.

Hey, no problem. I know I still suck. But I’m learning pretty quickly… sorta. Would be nice if we could get Golem Pyros to model for us, but he doesn’t care about the art much anymore it seems. Not to mention he has little intrest in ever modeling for games do to the restrictions.

Hey, it’s great to see so many responces in such short time. The origenal FL site (may it rest in pieces) doesn’t have much to offer anymore (so glad I wasn’t arround when the WoW drama hit there). In all seriousness. Yes, thankyou Chips, FF, Aigle, Worfeh, Startrader (I hope I didn’t miss anyone else that was important) and ATA for your inteligent reports.
Mindhunter: Thankyou for your support, I’ll try to get back to you when I can.
Strail: Duely noted, I don’t believe we have any content from your works in play.
Sorry I didn’t respond sooner. Been busy as hell. Scripting, Work, Scripting, Comic Con, Scripting, Ship Modeling, Weapon Modeling, Scripting, Spending time with my wife when I can, and maybe, if there’s time, a little scripting. I think it was missed somewhere in the translation that I’m am working on this regardless, the permissions thing is just so that it can be released in the future. If not, no big deal. It’s just an appitizer for what we’re making later. As FF stated about our conversation we had on msn, it’s being offered up as a monument to all those people that made content for Freelancer. All files and data can be encrypted, and most likely will be to protect the intrests of those artists that are feeling somewhat negative about the proposition in this discusion. Anyone who wants to add to it, make new content, can do so, and they will retain their rights to it, along with being heavily credited for doing so. There will, in no way, be a ban placed on content that is donated to this project, or any laws be placed that will become retroactive… I mean, come on, we’re not the government here. We’re gamers, we’re better than that, aren’t we?
As for the Emails and stuff, I’m going to try to find an Ambasidor who is good at digging those up for me, as my hands are very full right now. But if I can get access to the emails, I can get ahold of everyone then we can sit down and work out the details. In the near future I might even be able to do that in person. Hell, that would be great, I could explain in detail what we want and I could hear you, actually hear, what it is, it it’s propper context, how you feel about your work. Text is great, but it can be so easily misread depending on your mood.
PS: Again, thankyou for all your sagely advice FF.
Edit: Forgot to mention this. The only reason for the title PVP Ultimate was because we had two PVP mods being worked on at the same time. Not sure who coined that name to mine.

Origenaly this was posted on TLR (can see why that wouldn’t get much traffic) and I was kinda avoiding posting this here, but I need a little help and I know I’m bound to piss some people off with it, but here goes.
Posted by ATA
“My friend Griffin Pyros asked me to make a post on TLR asking for everyone’s help. He has recently been working on a massive TC-PVP mod for fun, but wants to publish it as well. That’s where I’m asking on behalf of him for anyone who has created and published a ship to please grant us permissions to use it in a mod. To learn a little more about this mod, check here, and to post your permissions, please either reply to this post, or post it on our forum here. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.”Posted by Myself
"We’re only asking so that it can eventually be released. If we don’t get all the permissions from everyone then it’s just going to be a personal lan thing with us and our close personal friends. I’m not trying to make this sound threatening in any way. We don’t intend on stealing your hard work, but rather making a “Community Expansion Pack”. Built by the community for the community so that everyone can see their work side by side together. The only thing that I am going to find sad about this project is the amount of people that I know will dislike this idea. When the final project was ready I would like to (if they agreed) have the creators look over their works and see them ballanced with weapon systems, engine drives, manuverabilety all as acurate to the real scifi ships from their universes along with the origenal content ballanced to compliment them with all the little neat features that we want to test and add.
The FL-PVP Ultimate was not to make a name for myself by taking away from everyone else but to find a way to give back to everyone else for all the amazing work they did. Kind of as a monument to Freelancer and it’s community, as spread across the net as they are. TRL may not be as strong as it used to be, but there are still new people coming to the game and they should be able to see the true wonder that is Freelancers fanbase. I’m hoping that we can get all the permissions, and even a helping hand to see more and newer models, ideas and aspects to add to the future of Freelancer."
"I would like to get the permissions if anything though, just so when we are done with FL-PVP Ultimate then we can release it for everyone to just have fun, without having to pick it appart. And if anyone is worried about the material being tampered with we can heavily encode everything so it’s not “easy” for them to get at it.
Thankyou again for all the amazing work you all have put into making Freelancer what it is already."
I think that covers most of it. If anyone wants to look through the posts on TLR, mostly the stuff I left out, the link is on the bottom.

LoL, what happens when you put… oh, let’s say… 7 fields piggy backed ontop of eachother? Just thought I’d ask. Had a cool idea and I want to see if it’ll work other than the one posted above.
-
I’m trying to make a single field with a couple loot types. Like, it has a chance of dropping Diamonds but it usualy drops Scrap Metal. I tryed adding the different Loot Fields to the Field.ini, even spliced them together, and only Diamonds drop (Diamonds being at the bottom of the field list). Anyone ever try to do this?
Oh, also, I tryed adding multiple fields ontop of eachother… FL realy didn’t like that, had to make the system all over again, lol. Big oops.

Thanks for the warm welcome. It’s nice to be on a decent community forum again, not that the Warzone 2200 Forums were bad, just different. And like them, there are alot of people I look up to and respect in this community.

Hahaha, seriously? That is funny ;D -
Hey, I’m new to TSP as stated. Used to be a big fan of TLR and a big supporter of it, but that was back in the day when there was no Star Port, or rather there wasn’t a need for it. Now that I’m back into FL again after our project with Warzone 2200 has slowed down a bit for specific reasons, I found myself getting into Freelancer again. So, from being a big fan of the game back in the game, about a year to a year and a half ago, maybe a little longer, not sure, time is relative when you live in a cave. I bumped into a guy on TLR, great guy, trying hard to fix it and he might be able to now. Then I’m came across Friendly Fire and he suggested transferring over to TSP. I gave it a bit of thought and after some time I had almost made a decision, then the hack happened yesterday… so here I am. To much drama involved with TLR right now. Once that is more settled I’ll check it out again. All in all, I’m not a fan of the FL community being divided (by -0, lol), I personally support the entire community. But that’s me. My goals and dreams for FL are very much the same and yet very different from everyone else’s. I’m hoping and praying that things go better from now on, though I know that our project is far from being more than vaporware. I hope to see it grow with the community supporting it and wanting it the same way we do. … I suppose I should get back to compiling data then. I’ll be around.
-edit-
Quick question… has anyone seen Black Hole around the forums or even TLR? Trying to get ahold of him.
