Thanks for your input! I’ve always tried to cordial to my opponents. And most of them seem to return the effort. But insults will always lead to more.

Thanks Home away from home. I think I’ve played wtih you. At any rate I’ve downloaded the Xfire but don’t know what to do with it yet. If I can muster up the motivation I may read the tutorials. But reading is tiresome for me these days. And I’m lazy. I vivsited the chat room afew times but no one was there. I’ll drop in now and then just in case. Perhaps I should add you to my friends list. If I can find your Xfire ID. Mine is lmnemo. The idea of voice chat is very appealing to me. Especially if it can be done while p aying. I’ve launched freelancer with Xfire but Xfire goes offline when the game starts up. Maybe the tutorial will shed some light on that if I ever read it. CYA later.

Tahvks for the response to my suggestions! And thanks for rpoviding me with a place to put my two cents in. That being said I couldn’t resist another opportunity to do it.
Well, what if yuo could design a server where the only way to level up wuold be to defeat another player of the same level? (Of course those who died would go back to a lower level or maybe they could stay where they are.) You guys might know better than me. at ant rate It would require players to competer for their next level. And put the level restrictions back in for ships and equipment. So If yuo want that nice shinny eagle you’ll just ahve to earn it like a real pilot.
Granted a lot people wouldn’t like that. But then again it would give players a real sense of accomplisment and a bit of prestige that you couldn’t get any other way. After all nothing gives you prestige like true competition. That’s why we like football isn’t it?
once again thanks! I’m done. For now. -
I must agree with you on game consoles. I had one of the first ones ever created. (Don’t remeber the name of it Atari I think) I payed for a while. but when I got my first PC I was hooked. The only reason I buy a PC is to play games. And to keep records when I had a buisness. I’ll keep playing PC games as long as they have them. I don’t even like those silly game pads that come with consoles. A keyboard mouse and joystick are the best way to control you game that I could ever imagine. And with the keyboard you can customise the buttons to suit your hands.

Won’t the copy right run out after a period of time? And if it does that opens the door for someonelse to get a license to redidstribute the game. At least that’s what I belive will happen. Of course as soon s some does microsoft will want a piece of the pie again. It’s like the who dat slogan. People have ben saying ti for years and selling goods. Now someone got a copy right and are trying to mpnopalise the slogan for their own gain. So check the copyright laws look for their expiraton dates then reapply for your own coptright. Then you can sell the disk yourself if you can copy it.

Don’t know how I gotto this part. I clicked next and there was the message box. So here I am again. Some of you probalvy hoped I wouldn’t come back. But, like a bad president I never go away. I just keep working behind your backs. “Humor”
As long as I’m here I might as wel say I’ve found a way to play multiplayer again. Those anoying mods are still there but I’ve found a way to get around them. Now I can plpay without getting booted. Been having a great time on iron lancer barnard 4 and a couple of others. Rastarns rock has high ping for me but program runs smoothly so I’ll play there again. Met some good people in MP. Had more fun than ever with freelancer. the fugative role ws by far the most interesting so far. Though I did enjoy bieng a corsair. I don’t care much for all the navy tags though. Freelancers should have a special tag or no tag. Otherwise put a uniform on trent and make it official. Besides tagged players should only work ofr their faction. That’s called being employed. I’ll let you smart people worry about that though. I’m just here to have fun. Thanks for all the hard work you’ve done. And all the good times I’ve had because of ti. -
Here’s sometihng I think would change PVP dynamics in a good way. Creat a mod that would automatically delete characters who die in combat. That way they would have to start over againn. It might limit the number of pilots with class 10 ships who go around taking advantage of beginer pilots in lighter clas ships, Since therer would be fewer pilots in that class. Of course you would have to have rules that forbid these actions and violators could be deleted so they would have to start again. Starting over teaches valuable lessions, and maybe pilots would learn to treat others with a litt respect since they might find themselves in a simular situation again.
you would also want to ban destructin of freighters by pilots who are not tagges pirates. After all pirates have the right to loot freighters, and pay the penalty when they fail. -
Multiplayer ID. Thats my problem. While using Mod manager I had a plroblem removing mods. So I broke the cardinal rule and deleted files. Needless to say that only made matters worse! The mod remains even after reinstalling the game. I can play single player with no mods. But if I activte any Mp sever the mod returns. Even the original MP server that came with the game. (You can do that and play by yourself.) Any way The mods are tied in with my Mp ID. I think the only way to get rid of them is to get a new MP ID. But I have no idea how to do that!
So I’m still freelancing solo. I may nevre rplay MP again; But I didi enjoy it when I did. I f I ever find my way out of this mess, I will happyly rejoin the MP comunity. Good luck to all of you freelancers. Follow the stars to new adventures! -
I just doo whaever I’m in the mood for, if I have the ship for it.
For instance; If I’m flying a freighter I will deffinatly trade.
If I have a decent fighter I’m gonna take missions and explore.
Some times I pirate. In liberty you can make alot of money pirating liberty rouges. One mule will usually fill your cargo bay with goodies. If you hang around rochester you will often find them hauling diamonds. You will need a cruis disrupter, because after you take a few of them out they start avoiding you. A negative side affect of this activity is that the Zoners will dislike you after a while. But you can fix that if you don’t let it go too far. One server I played on let me start my game as a corsair. That was very exciting! It was challenging in the beginning because the hackers didn’t like me, and I had to take misions to leave the base in cortes. The misions were hard because the bounty hunters were well equiped and I was not. I also like exploring. I think most players like exploring. Curiosity is hardwired into our minds. There’s no denying the compulsion. I keep hoping one day I’ll find a jumhole I’ve never seen before and go someplace new. That would be an exciting mod to add to the game. Of course those mods are out ther already. I just haven’t used them. -
Some payers have asked me about mining during the game. Here’s what I do. Use the minable areas filter to locate the minable area then go there. Slow down to 20 -25 then press z to kill engines. Now you’re drifting through the asteriod field slowly.
It should be very easy for you to shoot the small rocks and scoop up the goods. When your ship slows down too much, press z for a moment then kill engines again. When you find an area that seems particularly rich in minerals try to stay in that area. Area’s that have an abundance of small rocks increase you’re chances of finding goods. Keep you’re eyes open for pirates and good luck! -
Ther’s no way microsoft ic going to sell anoterh freelancer CD. They don’t have the brains for that. It’s a mass market ecconomy. Ths they have the copywrite, And if they can’t make another billion $ on it they won’t let someone else make $50 on it. They could have made a sequel and got rich all over again. But they didn’t have the brains to do that. Most corporate execs are not that smart after all. their only skill is counting money, And some time sthey can’t do that well either. look what they did with mario bros. they sold three different versions. Talk about making money! Why can’t eddison Trent fall into some new adventure and face new dangers? Who wouldn’t want to buy into that? I know I would. A new storyline would interest me far more than new ships and weapons. After all there’s more to RPGs than flying and shooting. It’s the story that keeps you wanting to get to the nex lavel in the game. You sit on the edge of your seat hopping beat the next challenge. And when you’ve done that you look forward to the next! Another game I’d like to see done agian is Tachyon. I’d still be playing that if I haden’t lost my product code. And who wouldn’t want to see Jake Logan embark on a new and dangerous adventure? Maybe he could return to Mars and fight evil there. Or go to the unknow reaches of space with the Bora. Wouldn’t that be great?

I’ve been playing single player for more than tn years. Part of the challenge is starting t he bottom and working your way up. If yuo don’t like that you just ahndle the challenge. As for mods. Well Iloaded the FLMM and turned on two of the moda. Now I can’t get to turn off. I even tried uninstlling the game and reinstaling. Guess what. They are still there. I can’t even play single player any more because the Npc therusters outrun my cruis engines. “What Genius Idea”
any my game disk is ruined and I have no idea where I’m going to get a replacement. ore than ten years of enjoyment are now gone! Possibly forever. Maybe the modders should focus on creating new stortylines and adventures. Instead fo weapons and ships. Or is that too hard for them to do. what they lack is imagination! That can’t be compensated for with new ships and weapons. All the original game really lacked was the human element to begin with. Of course it won’t matter to me now since my freelancer experience is pretty much over now. -
Mods can get youin trouble! I have two mods on my game. I have been banned from two serververs because of them. The worst part is I cannot get rid of them. I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game. Somehow the mods remain. I suggest all players avoid mods. Unless youre a programer who knows hgow to get things back to normal!
-
Hi. You seem to know a lot about modding. Well, I have rpoblem with some mods. I can’t get them out! I would like to get rid of them but they woan’t go away even if I reinstall the game. If yuo think you caqn help me contacvt me at [email protected]. Thanks!!

Ok I did that but the file is in a location not associated with the freelancer game. So when I syart freelancer there are no servers available whem I start multiplayer game. I have done sveral things. I have even downloaded server patches. But nothing has done me any good. One of the server patches I downloaded is in a compressed zip folder that I cannot even open. I am not a programer. I just like to play games, and am largley computer illiterate.

How can I get on line for a multiplayer game?
-
New missions! that’s the way to keep tha game going. Movies have sequils. Why can’t RPGs? If they came up with a new adventure for Eddison Trent to engage in. People who who likd the first version would probaly buy the sceond version. The software makers aren’t thinking long term. What if they had a freelancer two. Then Treny could embark on another crazy and dangerous mission where the fate of the world depends on him and his partners.
