I’m just now trying to figure out where to find the list of " Short names" For the commodies & other things!

Ok, before anything, he’s my situation.
I’m new to Freelancer. ( 2nd day ? )
I’m loving Freelancer. ( Dad and I spent many hours playing last night, vanilla of course , each of us are in Heavy Fighters after we did a nice litle trade run that netted us about 100k,)

So, heres where we are at the moment. Not quite ready to head into multiplayer servers, so I have one that I run of my computer that I created.
The thing is though, I have absoutely NO CLUE how to do anything different with it…
I’m wondering if it’s possible to:

• Have a player able to own more than one ship at a time
• Make it so that there are more ships around to fly! ( So far been from The Japaneese area land ( Shinyko? ) To New London , only seen a few different ships to buy ).
• Be able to give/ take away / bank credits to make it eaiser to transfer from character to character? ( Had to do this with trade ship )

I’m also curious of a few things:

-Are there any area’s similar to say, Low - SEc in eve online? –- Where its possible to be a bit of a pirate ( attacking trade ships ) without 100000 police engaging us in half a second ?

• Is it even worth blowing up thoose ships carrying many thousands of commodies? ( I’ve blown up one or two carying 40K + only for it too drop 5 or 6…

• I’ve seen the option to hail a ship, is it possible to make them pay ransome or give part of thier cargo in exchange for not being blown up ?

• HOW does one equipt items? I’ve picked up items that my ship could fit, but the only way I’ve seen how to is to sell it, then buy it back for even more to equipt.\

• Are there ships in this game with more specific roles? ( I.E. Missle boats, mining ships, cloacking capable ships, Long range engagement (sniping)

Well for now I just set up a LAN server for my Dad and I, just to try it out before we hit multiplayer. ( The idea of this is just to try it out and see if my Dad will play it !)…

I am also wondering, say I join a Public server instead of just making one for LAN , will there still be missions and stuff to fight against the NPC’s ?

Hello there, name’s Xeathos , and am yet to play Freelancer!
I discovered from a post. I said that I was looking for a Sci-Fi space faring game similar to Eve Online / X3 that I would be able to play COOP via network or something like that with my dad. This was suggested… So, here I am

Uhh… yeah… What is this game about! I read the description on the website, but it really didn’t answer any of my questions… Sorry if this is the biggest n00b post any of you have seen in a long time. But … yeah

What can you do in freelancer ?

What cant* you doo ?

And what does a LAN / Multilayer environment limit ?

I am hoping for the ability to be able to have both of us start from, scratch, then together work our way up. I.E. Eve Online / X 3.

I’ve been gaming for years, started on the good ole N64. At least that I can remember clearly
First game that I ever owned was some sort of Star wars game… And it was a hard bugger… ( Games back then were soo much harder ! )
Moved onto Quake / Hexen, learned to read play Zelda , etc etc… Got a computer, joined into the RTS games with A.O.E. 2
then discovered FPS’'s and have just played some of everything since then.

So, that’s a bit of me… Sorry if this post makes no sense! It’s 1;30 am and I’m trying to get this down now while I can remember it!
