Freelancer: Still Alive
-
sounds like one of the main problems with so few ppl left really cant spread that thin Im sure was no problem when numbers were higher. I am sry to say it sounds like your beating a dead horse. because from several ppl I have talked to this community has been going downhill for the past few years, I am only playing sp game so once Im done if there is no mp it wont bother me , it would have been nice but there are alot better games out there then fl, besides I only paid 5$ for it so I got my wear and tear just playing sp. I hope things work out but most like the newer stuff and this game if I am not mistaken is almost 10 years old. But then again I still play mechwarrior, but they at least from a tight community to play in .

I see there is a lot of talk about players “spread thin,” however I’d like to point out that players should not be forced to play on one particular server. If people want to disperse themselves among mods and servers of their choice, that is their decision and theirs alone.
The goal of the Save FL initiative is to simply raise awareness of Freelancer as a whole in today’s gaming market. It is not aimed to promote one project, but more to show the rest of the gaming world that Freelancer is still kicking and that it may be worth another look.
As you are all aware, any mod is highly encouraged to submit clips of their stuff - the larger the pool of footage is available, the more kickass the video can be.
Also, Why485 suggested making several versions of a “final” video that the community could then vote on for what should be submitted around the internet, and I think this is a great idea. I think it could even be taken a step further by uploading all the raw clips somewhere (I realize this will be a huge ZIP) so that individual users may try their own hand at piecing together a video with the submitted mod footage. These both would allow the full community to have more of a voice in the video-making process than just submitting mod clips. Thoughts?

surely forced would = dragged to computer at gunpoint and forced to login to server.? I dont think solution is about having just a few servers but it would be healthy if some from the 1-5 players range servers joined in with some other servers… Anyhow i certainly wouldnt condone any forced action.

Fox please give it up, reread my post fl is old no one in the global gaming market gives a damn about helping a small and extremely fragmented community . And a game that is not worth the money, sounds like most here have a pipe dream I mean you guys as a community cant even come together why should some multi million or billion dollar company or magazine for that matter give a damn about fl or its community. PLease understand I am not trying to talk down to the ideas you all present, but try opening your eyes to the reality of marketing and money, they will not waste any here.
I mean I have been reading sever different sites why cant you all pull together I mean okay play differnet mods and servers no big deal but you can still have one central location.Lx

hmmm maybe if microsoft let the players decide on everything when building the game it would have been alot better i mean rly who are they to decide how we want a game …… i mean i dont like the word freelancer… they should have named it something else… also what right do they have to make me start in starflyer … catching my drift? if its left to individuals nothing will happen

Jeez, who let these guys post? I feel depressed just reading thier posts!

Professional appeal would be lovely (we’d all love a Ubisoft-sponsored Download of the game), however this project is merely trying to appeal to the common gamer who might be still be interested. There has already been minor success with the first initiative video (which was only an example of what may be a good way to film in-game footage for the project), and for all of us this is very encouraging.
As for combining and working together as a community, this effort is open for anyone and everyone to help. There is no exclusivity here. If you at all care for the Save FL initiative, you are more than welcome to help out. If not, then please move along so that people who would like to post constructive critisism will have the room to do so. -
If I am not mistaken this is a public site right, Roo is it. if you cant handle ppls opinions maybe you in the wrong position. what i have stated is the the truth not just from my perspective. It’s logic, and maybe you are right  you  should be depressed, pip dreams have a way of doing that.

Gotcha Fox I was getting a feeling about the way things have been stated, so as long as everyone comes here . . . is it.
then the community will move forward. So basically you or your site I guess has appointed yourselves center of fl Community. And please fox this is constructive criticisim. Just some folks cant take as its obvious.best fo luck

I never once mentioned anything about a central FL community. By “we”, I was referring to those of us who are currently active on the Save FL project.
Also, I mean no offense by this, but your post was extremely cynical for constructive critisism.

People are entitled to believe in a community. And believe it or not its still here.
Yes there aren’t massive amounts of players left, but there are enough people left to spread the word.
Especialy when a small group, sponsored by the rest of the community, tries to put effort into making either a extremely nice mod, or other footage what could help to get this community on its feet again. The technoligy is around, there are little or no games with the freedom like you have in the FL game.
What makes me extremely disapointed are the people who slack down a project like this before it even started. What if the people who are willing to participate have lots of fun in doing this?
Is that a shame? Is it bad to even try such a thing without knowing what the outcome is?Before you click away this post, or scroll down to a other post (or up) … Think what your are doing on a Freelancer community site and what you were doing here in the first place.
Some how the Freelancer community is still interesting… otherwise you wouldn’t be posting here.
