A "Radar Cloak"; is it possible?

I am not really familiar with the Flhook code, but I think this isn’t possible. At least not triggerable as you wish by hitting a key.
And I don’t belive that you can hide a ship to the “eye”, 'cause the FL lightning is so …(let’s say interesting)… so even a black ship would have a reflection of light.

And Descender wants to do the opposite. He wants the ship to stay visible, but have it disappear on the radar.
I believe this might already have been attempted. You’d have to wait a bit for the FLHook Gods to notice it and maybe you’ll get a positive reply ;D

Well, I’m no flhook god either, can’t even program, but from my chats with motah about his work for uberlancers custom flhook, I got the idea that the game engine calls certain functions to do things, like dock, undock, deaths etc, when a ship cloaks it is removed from radar, hopefully one of these functions causes this which can be hooked with flhook.

like a cloak with weapons online.
So it might need some kind of a backdraw,
to keep the stuff a little balanced.

why485, a player of the 88flak mod, has figured out how to let other people on multiplayer see your engine flares. ask him how to do it.

Seems this was called by the wrong name. What the original question was, instead of a Cloaking Device, is wanting a ECM Jamming Device (Electronic Counter Measure).
Ideally that is a interesting idea you could make even more realistic by making sensitive to something a ECM Jammer would be, Burn Through. This is if the jamming system is too close to the tracking system, its power can burn through and see again. So at close range or if a target it is in the front view (Where the strongest Tracking Beam is) you should still get electronic lock to fire missiles ect. These use a lot of power and interfere with electronics on craft using it, so even in far future can’t see you flying around all thru a fight with it switched on.
A nasty toy for sneaking up on people, and a real reason to keep someone in the front view when fighting them.
Now, Realisticly…
From FLHook I would guess keying the effect to Front view or Range is going to be too much,
But Are these workable?
When activated…
- Make ship invisible to the radar and tracking.
- Take Shield Offline, or drain to 25% - 50%
- Drain Power from Main Generator and Thruster Reserve at Very Noticeable Level.
- Timer limit to mimic it getting hot, Can’t have one sitting motionless for hours in a asteroid belt with this thing.
That I feel would make it a useful device and give it enough “Drawback” to keep it interesting.
