Seeing Servers Worked but now gone.
-
I am using Vista 64 and have been using it to play Freelancer for a while now. I made the correction to allow me to see and connect to the global server list and that was going fine till a few days ago. Since then I have had to direct connect to my favorite servers but then yesterday even the DC won’t work anymore.
Anyone have any idea of what is happening?

Firewall? Antivirus?
They might block Freelancer, and in some cases you even have to UNINSTALL them in order to get Freelaner working.
tried to forward the FL ports in your router?
Also, it might be worth the try installing SP 2. -
Firewall: Been using Freelancer on this system for about a year and the Firewall was set to allow Freelancer to connect to MP servers. Will Try shutting it off and see what happens though.
AntiVirus: Nod32, never had a problem in the past, but maybe a recent update has caused a problem will try turning it off and see if I can connect.
Router: Linksys 300N, This system is direct connect to the router and Freelancer ports have been allowed/forwarded. Again Freelancer has been playing nice with the system up untill a few days ago. -
The for me it sounds like an update of the antivirus could have caused such a problem. But maybe SP2 will be a solution as well.

SP2: Sorry should have mentioned the system is fully updated.
Also turning off both the AV and Firewall solved nothing still unable to see the servers or Direct Connect.
I will try bypassing the Linksys Router and see if something got FUBARed in the router. I have not updated that and did not change any of the settings, but still something could have caused a fault/change.

You need to DEINSTALL the antivirus, deactivating won’t have an positive effect as we have encountered with the same issues with other players, but it seems that even with SP 2 it doesn’t work normally because they did a stupid update with your antivirus…

My suggestion was to use another antivirus instead then. Or at least deinstall the antivirus for a test run (don’t forget to reboot then) to see if it will work then.
