Shattered Worlds: War-torn is on the cusp of entering it’s fourth year as an active Freelancer modification. Our goal is to push the Freelancer engine to it’s limits, giving you one of the highest quality and most polished Freelancer mods in existence today. What is it that makes the mod special, though?
Features of Shattered Worlds: War Torn
Combat Capitals Now Available
In 1.5, combat capitals (corvettes, cruisers, battleships) were only available to active factions. This has changed in Creeping Darkness, allowing the freelancer or individual to wield one of these mighty behemoths of war. Take control of one of the many corvettes or cruisers to protect your territory or wage brutal war on your enemies.
Changes to Existing Systems
Many changes to existing systems have been implemented. None greater than the massive schism in Kusari, where the Kusari Remnants and the Blood Empire duke it out. The Kagutsuchi, a new pirate organization formed of the destruction of the old empire, has moved into prey on civilians and military alike. In Bretonia, the Mollys have pushed their agenda, constructing new locations and gaining more of a foothold. This is a perfect example of role-play made manifest, where players decide the future of the mod.
Many New Ships
Many new ships have been added to the mod, with over 160 individual craft at present, to increase even further your ability to customize your experience on Shattered Worlds. These ships are available in all shapes and sizes, in all areas of Sirius, just waiting for you to pick up the flight stick and take them out into the stars.
The Core of Shattered WorldsA Completely Rebalanced Ship System
Long gone are the light, heavy and very heavy fighter classes. In Shattered Worlds, fly a ship which more suits your style with our 10 specialized ship classes. Scouts, interceptors, combat fighters and bombers make the archetypes of combat vessels, which each category being specialized further by the vessels within them such as the Fast Attack fighter or Cruiser Interceptor. With <insert total=“” ship=“” number=“” here=“”>ships for you to fly, of which <insert sw=“” specific=“” numbers=“” here=“”>are exclusive to Shattered Worlds, you’re sure to find your favorite way to fly!
All-New Mining System
A new and exclusive way to mine has been implemented by the mod team, making mining just as viable as a source of income as trading or doing missions. In Creeping Darkness, gas mining has been added with <insert gas=“” miner=“” number=“” here=“”>new miner-class ships added to add an even further level of immersion to our mining system. So grab your miner, aim that mining laser (because you can’t mine without it!) and haul your precious cargo to those willing to pay top dollar for it.
Stunning Graphic Improvements
With custom ALE files that produce new, Shattered Worlds specific effects, hand crafted Starspheres, high quality custom models and many other huge graphical improvements, Shattered Worlds: War-torn is one of the most visually stunning Freelancer modifications to date.
An Ever Evolving Galaxy
The landscape of the Sirius sector is alive on Shattered Worlds. Traders, Miners, Pirates, Police, Bounty Hunters, and Freelancers move from system to system, interacting and communicating, fighting for survival in their ever changing sector of space. Player factions push their agendas throughout the sector, making tangible and integrated changes to the landscape of Sirius. This can be seen first-hand in the massively changed Kusari landscape, updated to reflect the hard work and dedication of the Blood Empire. The only thing holding you back is your imagination, leaving the future of Shattered Worlds in the hands of the players.
And Much, MUCH More!
Life beyond the rim of Sirius in the Orion sector is just one of the planned changes for this ever-expanding mod. With all the improvements listed above, plus numerous other changes and tweaks, and a warm and inviting community to top it all off, what are you waiting for? Come carve your own destiny and leave your mark in the universe that is:

awesome work Forsaken (lol as always… hehe), hangin out for your new version. -
Heh, thanks man. The DevTeam team is doing a great job. I’m really proud of what they’ve done with 1.3. I can’t wait till its done, it makes 1.2 look like vanilla. And the singleplayer guys will have love too. We got that sorted so that the campaign is compatible with the extensive overhaul we done of everything. I wanted to make it harder, but a lot of people are NOT elite pilots, and we didn’t want to scare people off from joining the server for multiplayer RP and PvP by making the SP campaign overly challenging. I did however make the Hovis race really easy instead of hacking it to bypass it. I made it so Hovis doesn’t use cruise as much.
FYI, we have a gallery on the forums too. I’m trying to update it with dev pics when I get a chance…

The next version of Shattered Worlds: War Torn is out! Creeping Darkness (1.6) is the next installment of quality and polish that the SW:WT mod has become renowned for.
There are ~50 completely new ships in the Creeping Darkness update, as well as the Corvettes and Cruisers being made available to the public. There are completely new systems which belong to the Guild and are part of the continuation of the SW:WT mod storyline but on top of that there have been a few major changes to existing systems that were driven by player role play. The Molly’s have a new base which they have been role playing for for a while and in Kusari the Blood Empire has been fully realised with re-worked reputations and factions. Missions against the Guild have also been added in several systems, these will definitely test even the most well organised of fighter groups attempting them.
New Ships:
Kusari, the Lane Hackers, the Bounty Hunters Guild, Universal Shipping and Mining and the GC have all received brand new fighter lines. Civilian, Liberty, Rheinland and freighter lines have also received some new blood. The long awaited Gas Miners have been added, no mother-lode sized ones yet, they’ll be along soon. In addition the Nomad Cult now have a specialised ship of their own.New Systems:
There are new Guild systems which contain their center of operations and a few other interesting bits and pieces if you look hard enough. These systems are linked in with the mod’s back story which, because of our focus on player driven role play, takes a back seat to changes within the houses in this update. That brings me to the next section…New Factions:
The major overhaul of Kusari was done to reflect role play done by several factions there (a previous Outcast faction and a Kusari faction under two different names, best known as the Blood Empire). The mod development team felt these changes too important to leave unacknowledged and as such Kusari is now ruled by the Blood Empire who also have a whole new line of ships. They are contending with two new criminal factions in the war-ravaged house; the Kusari Remnants, stragglers of the old Kusari Empire that was conquered by the Blood Dragons with the Outcasts and who are now rebels, and the Kagutsuchi, criminals and vagabonds taking advantage of the unrest in the House.New Bases:
The Mollys have a new base, Belfast, also motivated by player driven role play, and there have also been additions due to changes in Kusari. Belfast is an example of player faction built bases that the SW Admin team are phasing in with the Creeping Darkness release. This will be in the form of a base building system that will see everything from minefields and navigation buoys to shipyards, capital ship stations and even surveys for new systems available to players wanting to build up their faction. Another example of this system is Clatsop Station, which has received an upgrade from the player USM faction.Publicly Available Capships!
The first post in this thread has been updated to reflect all this. Come give the mod a try!
