Shield Bubble

Having never tryed m8… im at a loss… maybee the model tool can do it… but you’d have to go up into all that gibbergab in the text box and find the bubble ref… and extend that radi…
Bej / Griff ?? any thoughts on this… :-? I kinda wouldnt mind doing this on my startrek ships myself… and maybee shrinking the bubble on my starwars ships… ect. ect… list goes on… lol

To be honest I’ve never had the need to resize a shield bubble to make it larger. So I don’t know off-hand. Sorry.
Having said that, If someone wants the protective skin like shield they should use the SURsplice method… I think lol… I’m pretty sure anyways.
Azureus - are you unhappy with the way the scenery sur making method creates the shield bubble? I’ve always thought that that method made the shield bubbles pretty large.

have you tried with flmodeltools ?
http://the-starport.net/freelancer/download/singlefile.php?cid=2&lid=2618
with that you can resize a sur

Not sure if you have the ability to do this, but I have found that by using the Milkshape’s sur file importer, i have been able to move and enlarge the two groups that form the shield bubble. I have yet to test it out in a model as of yet, But after seening this post. I’ll atempt to try it out and see what I can do.
On a side note, If you have a larger shield bubble, your shiled WILL take hits that normaly will miss you. so a shield incress might be a must for the larger shield bubble.
I’ll get back with my results,
Lonestar out…

Yea There is two seperat bubbles well three, One is the hull hitbox, and the other two are for the shield, why there is two I do not know. I’m at college so it will be later today when I can do my testing and find out if the shield bubble itself can be enlarged.
Lonestar out…

Ok I’ve tried to edit the shield.sur file and then ship sur file, I keep getting two bubbles and i’ve not yet found a way to get it to work. If i try it with the two bubbles the hitbox is all screwy and don’t work. I’ll look into it more when I get time.

What happens if you take the li_freighter_shield.sur, copy it as yourship_shield.sur and manually resize it with FL Model Tool on the axes you want until it looks the way you want it?
You can check it on the ship using HardCMP v1.0.23 because it lets you choose the sur.
Those are shield surs and they are attached using the shield_link = line in shiparch.ini.
Any good?
