Hello everybody

Thruster = tab(ulator), speed: 200
Cruise flight = Charged flight, Shift + W - That one with which you fly up to 300 speed -
Did you tried the race with cruise flight?
Anyways, you should be able to purchase police and civil ships at most at larger and important planets. -
and battleships, as well. the race is on vanilla settings possible with every fighter available until then. i managed it even with a cruise speed of 375 in only one try and without modding the course or the enemy. it is pure technique how to get the right vector in the last sections to get the next ring. also fleeing from the missiles is unnecessary, they do not deal too much damage. just start turning in the right moment and there you go. good luck.

I tried with the cruise speed, it’s quite difficult for me. Maybe the problem is I used a 1st persone setting in vsual I’ll try to put it in 3rd persone…so I think I will be able to see a larger portion of space and where is the following ring. I’t quite impossible to turn so quick, fast and close with the 1st person visual.
I’ll try once more or so with this ship in 3rd person and I’ll let you know how it will go.
see you soon here…oh and thanks for your suggestions and advices

Hi there,
I failed another two times on the race…my, I lost the last ring I couldn’t find it and so I was defeated.
Will try again…soner or later I will succeed in it…I hope.
Does anyone let me know something about the “multiplayer” online game? I don’t know if my laptop support it.
see you soon

The Multiplayer option of freelancer is, in my opinion, the best way to play the game. If your laptop has a working internet connection, it should work just fine.
Also, 95% if Freelancer mods out there are mostly made for Multiplayer use. Like I said, it’s much more fun and challenging than shooting NPCs, getting money for a new ship, then shooting NPCs again.
-
yeah, shooting npc’s might be the best training for the starter but once you feel strong after beating the final enemy you will get a newbie again after getting up on multiplayer.
'bout the race: try starting to turn in direction of the next ring even before you pass current, in the later sections of the lap. -
If you are feeling to tired to do the race over and over again you might want to upload the savegame so a other person might flew it for you (can’t be me, sry, my FL doesn’t work correctly atm)
And it is true…MP is the big FL world.

As for the Mutiplayer what kind of chrateristic have to own my laptop?
It’s not new and it’s CPU is 1.6 Ghz only…I fear it’s not enough.Another advice please…I saw when I installed the FL game it showed me a code for the MP but I didn’t copy it…does anyone know where can I eventually find it?
As for uploading my saving I really don’t know how to do.
Thanks to all
see you soon -
depending on mod the RAM could be kinda prob. for instance dynamic asteroid fields do ask additional RAM more than vanilla. your cpu is enough.
your account number, if you did not completely reset your system you can read in the application .\exe\myflaccountid.hta
if you did reset, you could hope, that a server you have played on still has your account data. in that case, the owner or an admin could give you the number. -

But I think he ment it another way, he never played MP before and he got an key during installation(really?)
You shouldn’t need that key, if you have no key FL will automaticly create one, so you’ll have an account to play onlin
-
The key you see during the installation is the Customer Support ID, it has nothing to do with the MP ID used on multiplayer servers.
When you first connect to the Internet using FL, it will automatically create an ID and show it on the screen. Write it down, and FL will automatically use that ID to connect to servers. Nothing more to it.

It’s not new and it’s CPU is 1.6 Ghz only…I fear it’s not enough. As other ppl stated it out, you don’t really need more power for MP. I have a 2.1 Ghz processor and just 1 GB RAM.
As for uploading my saving I really don’t know how to do.
Thanks to all
see you soon/my documents/freelancer/single player
There you will find your savegames.

you know, bas, i have input in my mod in alaska dynamic asteroids and a bit more than 300000 polygons and with my 2 GB RAM i am lagging a little bit even in SP. and it is definately about the RAM, the FL process takes simply more on that level then vanilla. in general it depends on the mod only if the computer is fit to join a multiplayer server. most mods do not yet take too much more than vanilla but the newest projects do introduce a new generation of quality and also of the power you need to support it.
-
As a side note, some modifications allow you to select in FLMM (=Freelancer Mod Manager) in which quality your graphics will be.
-
Well yes I never played Multiplayer,
I have a 512MB Memory, so it’s written on my laptop.
When I installed the game appeared a key code and there was something written like “copy this ket it is necessary to play Multiplayer”.
thanks for your answers and suggestions

Vale, why are you worried to start Multi-player? Get on with it!
The key you see is the new Multiplayer Account ID. Save it somewhere where you can find it even after several years!
This key is used to make your account on the remote servers that you connect to when you make new characters to play. If you reload Windows on your PC you must use this same key to reconnect to your saved games on those servers. If you want to play your saved games from another PC you can also do that by using this same key.
If you change this key you will not connect to your saved games, it will make a new account on the remote server.
If you did not write it down, here is how you can read it again…
Open Explorer and go to the folder …\Freelancer\EXE
Double-click the file myflaccountid.hta
