Windows 7 Problem
-
Hi all.
Okay, so about 3 weeks ago I built an i7 system & installed Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium along with all the necessary drivers.
Today I installed Freelancer.
Freelancer booted up fine; tried to enter Multiplayer and the FLID message pops up with a blank field. I ran the game as Admin - no difference.
So I put in an old FLID I had. Joined a server, seemed to work fine except for the fact I had no chars (not sure if I had any on this particular account). I restart Freelancer & it asks me for the FLID again! -.-
Then I went through the entire process again with UAC disabled - no changes.
I finally decide to check out the Windows Registry & discover that no entries for Freelancer have been made. I import them from my laptop (running Vista Home Premium 32-bit) & Freelancer boots up fine & doesn’t ask for the FLID… until I try to use FAM… then the problem comes back. facepalm
I checked & FAM is updating MPAccountName & MPAccountNameSig in the Registry.
I’m lost.

Try this tutorial: http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=44642
The trick is not to install FL in Program Files but on the Desktop or another user data location. UAC and related things can’t cause trouble. At least it’s worked for me and a bunch of other people.

Try to disable Windows defender.
In most cases it cause more trouble than it would be a help.Use other programs for virus/spyware etc instead of MS stuff.
I’m running windows 7 without any troubles.
But i don’t use the MS stuff wich come during installation. -
you can also create an ID
you need two soft :
fl key gen :
http://forge.the-starport.net/gf/download/user/106/193/FLKeyGen.7zand
Freelancer account manager
http://sites.google.com/site/lordkorrd/famor open a new session on your computer and start the game
i think it will do the same, not sure, need to be tested -
Try this link for the keygen: http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=60812

If you check my original post, I had no problem getting an initial FLID & putting it in via the registry.
It is just that whenever I use another key with FAM, FL will crap itself until I restore it to the one I originally set.
I just tried switching accounts via ones stored on reg’s and it worked fine. I will be using this method to switch accounts from now on.
I’m guessing its some permission thing for both programs (FL & FAM). I disabled Defender/MSE & with UAC already disabled… I am lost as to what is causing it.
Atleast I can play now. ^_^
Thanks all.
