"External" Mounting of Power Cores

I know that it is possible to mount and unmount a ship’s power core at an equipment dealer. However, my question now is if it is possible to have said mountable power cores show up as visible external equipment.
The idea here is to make a ship with a “hole” where the drive or power core should be. Once you pick a core and mount it, that hole would then be filled by the physical model unique to that type of drive core.
Anyways, thoughts/ideas/experience?

I think Adoxa’s EngClass.dll allows them to be mounted like other outside equipment, but it doesn’t make them visible.

i think you have to add a line to the piece of equipment saying which kind of hardpoint it uses and make the same type’s hardpoint on your ship entry/ship. if i remember right, i saw a piece of internal equipment on the hull on my cloak fighter up on an 88flak test server. maybe a script like those from adoxa is needed for it, not sure though.
