Gonna go on a limb: Do you have Microsoft Security Essentials installed? If so, deactivate/uninstall it.

Nope, but thanks. When checking to make sure I didn’t have it installed, I noticed that the Windows Live Scanner thing that you have to install to send certain types of files over MSN Messenger was installed. I uninstalled it and it worked.
Guessing it may be the same program, just named differently.

Huh, interesting. I’m guessing the backend must be similar enough for the problem to arise on both Microsoft products.
Glad to hear it’s fixed!

Anyway Microsoft Security Essentials has exceptions option -
MSE uses the same background process as this Windows Live Scanner and there already have been two people for whom removing MSE fixed it. I don’t think the exceptions would do much, to be honest, as most antivirus that don’t work with FL tend not to work even with exceptions set properly.

Huh. Strange.
Played Freelancer on different Windows Oses with MSE - never met any problems. -
Yep, same
