Texture of light equip?
-
Changing the colours of the lights, making new ones and so on is a doddle and is all handled in the light_equip.ini. I have different coloured docking lights as an example plus a load of other custom ones i made.
As to the texture, don’t know tbh as i was happy with the ones on offer

Thank you for reply.
I know how change color Gibbon, and i want to change texture. Looks Freelancer’s light equipment related to ALE, and use texture in efx.txm, and the ALE i guess load in hardcore. So looks it’s no way to give different textrue to some light.

i doubt the texture is hardcoded directly into the program. there is for sure a reference to it and the texture itself is somewhere, too. its a matter of necessity whether you want to find it and change it or not (what is wrong about it anyway xD)

<slightly off-topic=“”>Never tried this, but wondered if… if it’s possible to create a huge pulsating light, and add it to a sun somehow, to mimic a flare star.
Has anyone ever established a max size for a light bulb?</slightly>

Pulsating light? It can be done. Just set blink_duration to a smaller number like this:
blink_duration = 0.100000 -

w00t! increcible…
anyway if its just about replacing, you can make the ale just point to a different texture or make a duplicate ale that’d point there (if you want different shaped lights)… correct me, please, if i’m wrong, haven’t gone too deeply into lights mechanics. why should i - the ones available are pretty much enough for most purposes. -
Whist were on the topic of hard coded fx, anyone know the exact texure called for tractor beams… mine are broken bits of what they should be… hex edits aside… i just need to know what .txm/.tga combo im looking for
love that pulsing sun/light idea… got me thinking too
