Changing the "Loading" shape.
-
Thanks for the info, I’ll tell you if I succeed.
Edit:
After decomposing it with XML Project, I found out that these are just colors and not one animated picture. I can replace the glow with little circles that will run there, but its not what I wanted. The “background” is the dark blue background behind the glow. My seconf question here is: Can I change the shape of the model (or size) through the XML text? (I’m pretty sure not)*ST try to hold up on this one, no "WHAT? LOL"s please.

There is no background - it just overlays whatever’s on screen at the time. The shape is defined in interface.generic.vms, which basically means you may as well create your own from scratch. Fortunately for you, I was curious enough to see if I could extract it, so find attached a version that the MilkShape importer will load.

Holy crap DvdMan! Okay, I’ll hold your hand:
1. Backup front_loading.cmp (optional).
2. Extract front_loading.zip & front_loading.ces.zip.
3. Start MilkShape, import front_loading.cmp (I used Freelancer CMP Importer V2.7).
3a. Select all, weld all vertices (Ctrl+A, Ctrl+W, Shift+Ctrl+A).
4. Do whatever (you’re really on your own here).
5. Save as .ms3d (optional).
6. Export using Freelancer CMP V0.3.
6a. Click Update, select front_loading.cmp.
6b. Load settings from front_loading.ces.
6c. Continue.
6d. Continue.
7. Start Freelancer, New Game (and F1) to test it out.
8. If it’s not right, shutdown Freelancer, go to 4.And to show that it works, attached the sample one I made when creating the settings file.

so, in theory it’d be possible to make the background have any possible shape and with the material you could define even a loading image. the loading bar itself could be moved to the corner somewhere… nice possibilities. but one problem: how to know, what geometrical size is equal to the screen size? does it depend on the resolution btw?

No “WHAT?” LOL!" DVDMan?
No, it would have been more like “Why don’t you pull your finger out of your bum and do it, and let us know how you did it for a change?”
That’s another day of delay in getting my sur exporter from adoxa.

You know ST, lately your posts consist of insults and harassment. I know it’s counter-intuitive, but those who are developing FL tools don’t work for you, aren’t paid by you, and have no obligation whatsoever to provide those tools for anyone -let alone your continued insinuation to the contrary (see above quote). Then you have the nerve to hop on the bandwagon at every opportunity to belittle anyone with less experience who asks for help.
Climb down off your high horse. Get a grip and take some Valium. Nobody is making cash off these mods, it’s a hobby. So please relax and either try to filter your comments into something less abrasive, or skip the comment altogether. All those type of posts do is serve to alienate potential community members and discourage those newer souls just getting excited about modding. I agree with RTFM in general, and due diligence, but at the same time… we are a COMMUNITY, and that means members share experiences; both triumphs and tribulations. We should all feel safe sharing the journey.
Sorry to derail the topic for this brief intermission, but ST seems to like the public display factor, so I’ll just toss this out and step away.

Actually, it’s not two triangles, since it has a middle section, too. And due to the way I created the cmp, you need to do the whole renaming bit for it to recognise the new material and texture, as well as import the texture, since the exporter doesn’t do it. Attached is a properly adjusted version, using the blood dragon from the news. To use your own image, use MilkShape to adjust the background size to suit and the texture coordinates (the news image had black bars top and bottom, which I didn’t include) and then a UTF editor to import the image (and don’t forget to make the tga upside down).

You are wrong, read more carefully. Some dry humour yes.
When I am annoyed everyone knows about it.

Wrong again. I have given a lot of help and continue to do so.

Of course - but in this case DVDMan is no a newer soul, he also has a habit and as before, again asked several times too many having been given the info and had not tried himself.
I like to help new people, have done so for years, and expect them to try what they are told and come back for help, not continue to whinge for everything without trying.
I will continue to do that.
And anyway, DVDMan knows me well, I don’t think he has a problem with me pushing him (or others) now and then to do it himself and let us know the result?
Guess it’s also your turn to have a grumpy day.

Wrong again.
I have contributed enough to this community to have gained the space to speak my mind.
The utilities that I have pushed for to be fixed have never been for myself alone.
The times I got abusive are very few, and limited. Sometimes for foolish requests, and once for broken promises.
I am not alone, the majority who feel the same have kept silent.

You could be a little less blunt, though, ST, and nothing of value would be lost.
