Cargo Hold Crash
-
Whenever I try to look into my own cargo hold while in space (F7) FL crashes. Naturally it doesn’t crash at all if I look at what’s in my own cargo hold while I’m docked.
I also can’t scan other ships without crashing. I’ve tested to see if it only affects custom ships by adding a vanilla Sabre for sale to a base and buying it, as well as scanning the few vanilla ships flying around but the FL still insists I should crash whenever I look into any cargo hold, my own or an NPCs while in space.
I’ve replaced the scanner, I’ve reset faction_prop, npcships and loadouts to vanilla versions, I’ve even tried looking in my own cargo hold in space when my ship only has a powercore, engine and scanner and nothing else, but that’s causing FL to crash anyway. I’m also using the EngClass.dll by Adoxa but I’ve been looking at cargo holds in space in the past with that plugin and had no problems whatsoever.
What else could have an effect on looking at cargo holds in space?

Can you open other windows in space? (the NavMap, your replist)
Does this happen in your modding project in particular, or to your FL install in general? (If so, a fresh install might help)
Btw I have no experience with this, nor do I have any particular knowledge about this. But while I’m here, I might as well ask some diagnosing/claryfying questions.

Other windows are fine. It’s just when I look into any cargo hold in space.
As for testing, looks like I’ll have to reinstall anyway if I want to find out because another mod which isn’t installed now left some files behind it and crashes FL on launch. Might be the cause, even…

Gisteron’s feedback makes sense.
Whatever it is, or whatever you did to fix it (if you fix it, which you will, sooner or later) - please post it! It might be of help to others, and also raise the general common understanding.

i suspect it is something with the interface going wrong. the very graphics, a 3db is missing/damaged or so, one of those only needed for the cargo hold. try to visit an equipment dealer. it should crash then, too.Reinstalled FL and the opensp mod.
Launched FL with opensp and checked the EQ & Commodity dealers, my cargo both planetside and in space. Scanned an NPC ship. No problems.Loaded the mod I’m working on. EQ & Commodity dealers were fine, checked cargo without any problems. Launched to space, checked cargo, crash.
I’ve also noticed that at one point I had one ship where I could check my own cargo in space and scan NPCs just fine, but another that would crash for both. Now the ship that used to work crashes, along with all the vanilla ones.

Not sure what I should be looking for. I see MP3 codec errors, ArchDB errors and errors referring to Li01’s zones. Given that the mod is a TCM and doesn’t even modify Li01 except remove it and every other system as well as the fact that the spew doesn’t report errors about any other systems, I’m not sure what’s going there. I don’t see anything specific relating to the scanner crash, or at least I don’t know what does.

Yeah, the ArchDB messages would probably be the pertinent ones. And MP3 Codec Fix should take care of the codec messages.
