[The Starport News]Acquisition of an old domain

I submitted news about lancersreactor.com domain being back for the Freelancer Community.
The news was published by an admin I assume (as it didn’t show when I submitted it), then moved forum, my post deleted, myself banned for violating the rules of the website by posting “lancersreactor.com” in the message body (not even hyperlinking I think?) for posting a forbidden domain and trying to get around the censorship (I didn’t but that’s not the point).
The news item was enabled by me as it seemed a good thing for the community, since the domain had been ‘lost’ for the last year.
Also I want to clear something up. Freelancer: Continuum is not a LancersReactor mod, but a mod like any other. The only difference is, that the mod has forums at lancersreactor.org instead of having their own like FW:TOW. It also receives support with any problems they may have, but nothing more.

Ah I see. Op made it sound like it actually is a TLR mod - my bad.

Funny, I just got an email from TLR because I had an account there back in the day.
This is Lancer’s Reactors new web address since meanwhile more than 3 years and home of our community. The step to move away from the old web address has become neccessary long time ago but all your user data as well as registration information are kept under our new address. We are shifting no information about your privacy back to lancersreactor.com. Eventual existing links to lancersreactor.com are therefore seen as archive information while we host the modding work - since numerous years as well as news about Starlancer and Freelancer at lancersreactor.org - your beloved Lancer source for information… Lancersreactor
This is the bit that made me wet myself. Read that, then deside who talks the most s**t.
Everything OP says or does is basically bull and the rest is lies, I’ve alway been a firm believer in that, that’s why I’ve never renewed my account since the switch over.
TSP has always been about the comunity, Yeah most of the admins if not all are involved in FW:ToW. But never do you see the mod being thrown in peoples faces all the time, the reason why they always have news up is because they actually take the time to post updates on it. That’s just good marketing. They are producing ground breaking stuff, there’s plenty to shout about.
Just my opinion, not very often I have one on stuff like this but meh, they emailed me bwahaha…

I’d like to add that we actually encourage others to post news as seen here http://the-starport.net/freelancer/forum/viewtopic.php?topic_id=4059
I’ve felt bad for the FW:ToW newsspam but if nobody else posts anything, then that’s all there is and doesnt really have anything to do with FW being a TSP mod.
-
Ahm sorry that i came up with that. I have not said it is a TSP mod. I know pretty well its not. I just said the impression could come up. Thats the same impression that came up with Continuum. Its not a TLR mod - they just use their sources same as FWTOW uses TSP sources. So let us all drop this issue.

Most of you lot just do not get it do you ? People wonder why the Freelancer community as a whole has decreased over the last 2 years. Let me enlighten you all feel free to ban me if you like. Threads like this drive away community members due to the bickering and general attitude and now we the community are ever more decreasing in size due to in fighting over what ? When Freelancer is gone i will think back upon this thread and shake my head with utter disgust at the way the community has fallen from the greatest on line space sim ever over bragging rights. Some times i wonder is it all worth it hanging around reading watching for the next great thing in Freelancer. I started off playing years ago most who encouraged me to try Freelancer have gone i stayed the last of my clan some say a die hard fan but now i am not so sure. I would like everyone to get along but it always falls on deaf ears typical Freelancer related. Will come back in a month or so and hope to see everyone getting along again Freelancer is in my heart shame the communitys have came to this.

Fuck this, I don’t know what’s wrong with people.
We will NEVER ban somebody merely because they’ve expressed an opinion. NEVER NEVER NEVER.
Stop acting like we’re evil despots hell-bent on suppressing dissenting thoughts. We are not.
As for the rest of the message, get off your high horse and do something about it if you think it’s so shameful. It’s very easy to condemn people from the spectators’ lodge.

Oh my god.
Now it is a crime supporting a mod? I just can’t believe what I see here.
Lancersreactor has supported 80% of all existing Freelancer mods. Many of them had their forum there. Now that is a crime? Something that you use to blame them?
They have not even said that other mods are not welcome anymore or wont receive the same support.A crime to support a mod? Who said anything about crime - what choo babbling on about However, a bit of info:
This point used to be a huge issue for some back in the day (no names, eh Op ). Centralisation of mods on the forums at Lancersreactor to the detriment of other communities is how people presented it - TLR trying to be the only location on the internet for Freelancer fans. Of course it was always just a service for those who didn’t have a central place, or service for those who requested it.

The majority of news here at Starport are about Freeworlds why don’t we start to judge about this? Take away all these news and you have not more news remaining than they do. Still you sit on your high horse to blame them and belittle them.Unfortunately there appeared to be issues with news submission method - which have been resolved. Who knows how many items were submitted that failed to make it through Oh well.

It is interesting how you rant about them all the time. I finally know that this place here is nothing for me. I’ll join lancersreactor.org. There I don’t get forced to use a community bar to take benefit of their services and don’t have to see such a respectless treatment of other communities.Who is ranting? No-one here is ranting… Some people are asking questions, and they’re getting responses. Honestly, read the thread with an open mind rather than a pre-determined one

Oh and just to let you know.
The net is full of hosting packages where you get a good website without access to its HTML code but with user interfaces where you can set up its content. That is the reason why I will not be able to put up such a community bar. I wouldn’t even want to do that anymore after reading all this crap. That, as ever, is your decision. Just in-case you got the wrong idea though - you can submit news to lancersreactor.com without having the community bar. You can register here, post on the forums, ask questions - all without having a community network bar. You can use the downloads, submit your own mod to the database - all without needing a community network bar…
Your focus upon the community bar is amusing and alarming.
You haven’t even said “is it not possible to put a single link to the network bar PAGE on my site?”.
Maybe they could accommodate people like yourself, but until people raise such concerns they may not be aware. I honestly don’t think that crossed your mind… then again, I’m not sure you’re motive for posting was a community bar. I think even if it didn’t exist, something else would be the issue instead

In my eyes the lancersreactor.com is just your try to force others to use your community bar. Not more, not less. It is definitely not a try to help the Freelancer community. It purely helps Starport and instead of being beneficial for Freelancer it has just created a deep rift right through the Freelancer community. More damage than benefit.Bye, I have no reason to stay here anymore.
It would appear your mind was made up loooooooong before you arrived here - but fair enough on your opinions. How it can possibly be forcing someone to use it when they can utilise it for news, downloads, hosting and more is weird. Rather than wait for a potential solution, you’re off…unsurprising
Hopefully you will, over time, be open to changing your opinion in the event you see evidence to the contrary - and hopefully you willAs for the guy saying he may get banned… seriously? This is a place where discussions are allowed and encouraged - it is what makes it fun to be here. If you go to far, they’ll let you know
They don’t start making or quoting random rules to ban people who offer a different opinion, or post a link… or mention a website. If you were scared that may happen here - then I fear it is sad reflection upon places you usually visit Hugs all round i say hug
I bet you’d never hear that elsewhere -
Personally, I think that all of this drama stems from Lancersreactor being resurrected by OP. It’s caused nothing but hell since the day it happened. Why on earth OP didn’t just stay with the SWAT portal and leave the damn thing alone is beyond me.
All it’s done is open old wounds and if any one thing has caused a bigger rift in the freelancer community, it’s that single possibly ill considered action of bringing back Lancers.
The best possible outcome in my mind is to destroy the damned thing, and instead have it as a portal to the freelancer community as seems to be the intention for the old domain. It seems that there’s no one size fits all solution as to how to link to the community, but if there’s one single event that could take place to blow a hole in this dispute, then solving the community links problem would be it.
There appears to be two definate communities at play here, TSP and SWAT fighting over Lancers. Blow up the thing they’re fighting over and the dispute is over.
Sounds simple to me, however, I don’t expect anyone to agree.
