Download tabctl32.ocx and put it in either your C:\Windows\system32 folder or in your Ioncross Freelancer Character Editor folder.

ok i tried downloading and the file and putting it in both locations and i get the same thing so what drivers should i up date

Use regsvr32 to register the file.

Did you download those vb runtime files from the ioncross site or what? If not go to http://www.ioncross.com/software/ scroll to the bottom and download them. 99% of the trouble you get launching charcter editor comes from not installing them.

yes i did and then i ran the regserv32 and it gave me this:

To register a module you must provide a binary name

Don’t know if I’m a bit lost in the woods here, a bit late in any case, but a nice little program I’ve been using is Freelancer Simple Save Editor. You can change practically everything with it.

Yea, nice thing. Also for creating a /restart character files for mods.
