Auto-banning
-
Hi
I have installed the latest Discovery FLHook for my discovery server, but it auto-bans people like crazy. It seems the anti-cheat is set very tight. If someone is using hudshift.dll or a freelancer.exe that is set for single instance, (so FLCompanion can import) it will ban them.
Some people have wide screen monitors and would like the scanner and weapons boxes to be in on the sides how they would be on a regular screen. -dx or -dwwwxhhh puts spaces on the left and right.
Some admins would like to let people import from FLcompanion.
Is there any way to loosen the anti-cheat on these? I’ve tried setting KickOnCheckSumFail=no but it still bans my admin character for using a freelancer.exe with an unexpected checksum.
Someone else has posted about this on discoverygc and got no response so I thought I would ask here.
Can anyone help?

That would be me and yes i concur im having the same problems

We are talking the Disco mod 4.86, and its a problem effecting a few of the server admins, some of us like to do thinks the old fashion way when it comes to being admin on our servers, ie we like to ban people ourselfs, Dont mind the kicks but ban is taking it to far.
Im not mad about it i would just like to know if the almighty Cannon could fix it so we could deactivate all anticheat or at least point out to us how to
(And yes i think Cannon should change his name to the Almighty Cannon!)

you must take into account that all the things its banning you for can leed to cheats, so best to supply all the important files with your mod then all should be fineI understand that this can lead to cheating. And for that reason, it should be the way it is by default. But by the same token, there should be a way for a server admin to disable some of these anti-cheats.
Not all servers are the same and not all admins are the same. Some admins check their logs regularly and if they see someone using something that is totally out there, they can ban the person themselves, but they might want to let people use a freelancer.exe with a certain checksum because all that would do is allow the importation of server data into FLCompanion. It’s not the checksum that’s expcected and therefore there should be a notice in the server logs. But the software should give the admin the option of whether they want to be very strict and not allow any or be more relaxed.

You likely won’t get an answer from Cannon here, he doesn’t visit the forums as much as he used to.
Do bear in mind that Cannon freely released all of his plugins as is. They weren’t meant to be used outside of DiscoveryGC’s environment initially, and aren’t designed for it. They’re built to the specifications Cannon wished.
If you want features or options added, Cannon is usually willing to do so, but I’d suggest changing the tone just a bit. You’re not entitled to it.
Check out Discovery’s own forums at discoverygc.com and PM Cannon. That’s probably the best way around it.

Im sorry im sure me or Kelly never meant any insult to anyone, i think somethings as always get misread or mistyped and the tone is assumed.
I for one am extreamly appreciated of all that has been done concerning Flhook and also fully recognise the work that Cannon has placed into it.
We have only placed the post here as on the off chance he will see it, just so we could possibly get a answer if it was possible to have a way for the anti cheat to be turned off or even if it was as simple as removing a plugin or file.
Im sorry if i have seemed disrespectful in any way i certainly did not mean it.

(And yes i think Cannon should change his name to the Almighty Cannon!)You are from the UK and English is your native language?
And even if not, I don’t think THIS could be misunderstood.

This is very true, but this is also representative of the British humor. Im not sure how almighty is understood around the world but here i was meaning as in the great, the one who could do anything ect ect, it was enplyed as a god like joke as to me the likes of cannon, w0dk4, yourself and lancer sol just to mention a few are the people who have basically kept the game together.
Like i said before some things are miss read and i did not mean any offence by it, it was meant to put a smile on a few’s faces.
The question would be i ask, Why would i want to insult the person i am asking for help, and also if anyone has read any other posts on here from me why would i be insulting at all? i have always acted in the utmost kind and always willing to help where needed, but i understand if you have taken it as a insult so once again i must appoligise.
I will keep the British Humor to a min on these forums

I was referring to KellyR’s last post, which seemed to veer from asking for support to being outraged that the plugins didn’t offer the amount of control desired. The humoristic nature of your posts was easily discerned, starworlds.

Good to know im unfunny

If I have given insult, I most humbly apologize. That was NOT the intent. Reading over my last post, I winced at how brusque I was. I can get like that occasionally and when I do I need to be slapped down.
I absolutely understand that we are not entitled to anything concerning the Discovery mod. Like Starworlds I was just wondering if there was any way we could turn down the anti-cheat. But if not, then we’ll live with it. And I agree with Starworlds. Cannon should change his name to Almighty Canon. I program a bit myself, and I am astonished and in awe at what he has done.

As I’ve said, your best bet is to contact Cannon directly. I haven’t seen him online much lately, so I’m afraid I can’t direct him to this here thread.
