Can't download some files/mods
-
Hi everyone,
I’m trying to get Freelancer working on my new laptop and I can’t seem to download some of the files/mods that might help me. All seems OK except that for some reason everything is a bit squeezed on the horizontal, making circles and planets taller than they are wide even though they should be equal, and making characters taller and thinner than they should be.
While the game is still playable, I would like to fix these issues, and play in widescreen to match my actual desktop resolution settings of 1920x1080.
I have the HD textures mod installed and it appears to be working, and I know it is possible to tweak the screen resolution to 1920x1080, and I have successfully done so. But this then causes the problem of interface items being moved around or just plain off screen and makes interaction with basic room interfaces (i.e. launch pad, bar, equipment dealer, etc.) totally impossible as the interface buttons are off the screen.
I found the post at http://the-starport.net/freelancer/forum/viewtopic.php?post_id=37976#forumpost3797 and was hoping to use the information there to fix the problem, but when I try to download the linked files (jason dll and hudshift) I get an internet error saying they could not be found. I tried loading just the base url of http://adoxa.110mb.com/ and found that it also will not load.
Does anyone have another set of links I could use to try and download them? Is everyone having trouble or is it just me (could be my DNS I suppose)?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Nevermind, I was able to find an alternative.
For anyone else having issues with downloading such files, you can try the “Utilities and Other Goodies 2011” package at http://www.moddb.com/games/freelancer/downloads/utilities-and-other-goodies-2011 and it seems to include HudShift, jflp.dll, and a plethora of other utilities for modding and tweaking the game.

Adoxa changed his webhost, his site is now Here - adoxa.3eeweb.com

I appreciate the response, but that web site also fails to load, as does the site listed in Adoxa’s own profile here at the-starport. In any case, the tools available from the moddb site linked above do include adoxa’s utilities (albeit possibly older versions), and I was able to get the game set up for proper 16:9 HD widescreen at 1920x1080 (plus the HD textures mod). I’m quite happy with it at this point I still find it amazing that there isn’t yet a game as good as Freelancer. You’d think in nearly 10 years someone could have come up with something worthwhile. Hopefully Star Citizen will live up to its potential.
