Freelancer crashes right before start menu

Ive been trying to modify freelancer for my alienware with 1600x900 resolution. ive tried following others guidelines and jason’s patch but i constantly have the same issue of freelancer crashing between the end of the movies and the main menu, can someone please help???

I use to have a very similar issue, Make sure you launch freelancer as administrator.

Make sure you have no saved games
