Graphics lag?

Oh, Been there before,
1st, Cross fingers and await next version of nForce Drivers as it might suddenly fix the problem.
2nd, If your using “tweeked” drivers from card maker, you might want to try the NVIDIA reference drivers for that card instead.
3rd, Unlikely but have seen it happen, make certain that your card, if it has multiple outputs and one is Composite, SVGA, or even a HDMI, is not running in Dual Mode (Or what ever your card maker calls it). A lot of cards act like yours when trying to stay in “TV Output Compatible Mode” at odd resolutions and color settings.
Well I figured I’d post something in here just to clear it up and in case anyone else happens to have the same card. The GeForce 9400 is one of those cards that FL simply doesn’t like so avoid it like the plauge ;D

I run a core i3 with a GT630 from Nvidia and I get a whopping 1fps…. I contacted Nvidia and they keep telling me it’s the game and not their card. The game ran perfect before the card was installed so screw them. I just want to find a fix for this damn issue so I can get back on FLU and continue my Admin duties.

If you already had freelancer installed before you changed graphics card, then I would try uninstalling FL fully and then reinstall, many games have to be reinstalled when you change cards.
Failing that, remove the video card and try playing with your i3’s onboard graphics, or disable your i3’s onboard graphics in the bios so you only have the 630 working. It’s not the video card that’s causing you grief, it’s your system setup in one form or another.

Already re-installed. It’s a no-go.
And as to the BiOS…… No can do… I run Windows 8.1, meaning the BiOS, or any alternative for it, doesn’t exhist anymore. I have set my system up in so many ways and have still failed to solve this issue. All drivers are up to date, including some beta drivers that I was given by Nvidia to try and solve the issue. Since BiOS doesn’t exhist anymore Windows has another means of selecting which gfx card to run, and yes, I have tried running 630 alone AND the motherboard card alone. Nothing…

Well I’m still running win7 and I don’t use bios either, it’s called UEFI nowadays but I still refer to it as bios all the same, old habits.
How to access UEFI on win8 -
that link shows you how to access UEFI on win8, yes. But, all win8 users were forced to upgrade to 8.1. In 8.1 they made it impossible to access the UEFI. They did this intentionally but the reason is beyond me. So, again, BiOS or any alternative (meaning UEFI) does not exhist on 8.1. Atleast as far as it’s users are concerned.

Well that sucks, it’s not hard to see why so many people say win8 is shite. I’ve no experience using it so not sure what else to suggest, can you roll back to win8 and access UEFI, or better still maybe install win7 if you have a copy hanging about. If all fails, there’s plenty other good games to play in this world so it’s not the end of the world is it

I forgot about that little tid-bit…. I’ve seen those vids too… Acer and I think HP (maybe some others) have that option built in to the PC, BUT, it depends on the manufacturer and is not a standard windows 8.1 option. I have a Lenovo, which unfortunately doesn’t have that option built in. Don’t pick on my Lenovo tho… It’s super simple to work on the hardware.

Have a read through this thread.
A user is having the same issue because the install was carried out in legacy mode as opposed to UEFI, you can’t switch to UEFI mode because the HDD would no longer be able to boot. You’d need to reinstall with the bios in UEFI mode.

i have two gtx 660 ti superclocked cards in my pc you have set the control panel to quality instead of performance that will slow it down 60fps also make sure vsync is selected. here are some good cards to use that i have tried if you can get 9800gt is very good card for free lancer or any newer low end card will do like gtx 460, gtx 560ti if you can get one . i know the 660ti like i got in my pc they dont make it anymore 760 i have not tried yet not much of an update for me. i am waiting for the 800 cards .

rsabatino, I do have all those options set up that way. That is the one thing the tech support actually offered to help me with. It didn’t help though. For now I have taken out that gfx card and am running on the motherboards card. Atleast i can play Freelancer again and perform my duties as an admin of the top vanilla server alot better now.
Thanks again everyone. I guess I’ll just have to save up for an even better gfx card that i know works with Freelancer!

I hope it’s not too late for me to butt in, I’m experiencing similar FPS issues.Smackdown, I find it rather hard to believe your system does not have a user-accessible firmware, either classic BIOS or (u)EFI.
Unless you’re running a Mac and Bootcamp deal, I’ve never heard of any system without at least the option to adjust the time and date.From your posts I am getting the impression you’ve been slightly misinformed regarding Windows 8 and 8.1(and 8.1.1), it doesn’t remove BIOS access, a mere operating system simply CANT, but it also does not fully shut down when told to do so or when asked to reboot, a sort of hybrid shutdown/standby mode, which prevents the BIOS from rePOSTing the system.
I’ll assume you know at least where to find the Shutdown button within the OS, try hitting that while keeping the SHIFT key pressed down, this should circumvent the Hybrid shutdown and outright turn the whole bloody thing off.
Personally I don’t think “more modern” graphics cards will fix this issue, I’m running dual GTX760’s in SLI, gonna try to faf about with some settings…

Interesting… adddressing multiple displays over multiple graphics cards seems to be what’s killing it for me, as soon as I reduce my desktop objects to only two(or one) from only a single graphics card, framerate is acceptable.
Putting all three monitors on one GPU effectively circumvents this as well.
