Permanently disable 3D sound

Title says it all really. We’ve been noticing a fair few crashes which are most likely related to 3D sound, which has always been notoriously unstable. However, asking people to turn it off appears to be too complex and unreliable.
I know how to remove the option from the menu, but that won’t fix the current value. I’ve tried looking for a value, but I couldn’t find anything obvious.

This doesn’t seem to change anything in the UI, are you certain it’s actually recognized by FL?
