Ship wireframe tutorial?

Does anyone have a good tutorial for making ship wireframes? I’ve googled it and found only one which was pretty vague.

… there is a MS CMP exporter that makes proper wireframe based on lowest LOD! though all lines seen!

also for 3D MAXs exporter I also heard/saw (tryed and left) that works.

Thanks! Using P1p3r’s plugins did the trick.

One more question: To reduce the polycount on the wireframes do I have to use 3ds Max or is there another way?
