Freelancer exe starts and ends in less than a second

I recently installed my CD copy of freelancer on my windows 7 desktop. The installation went perfectly, however when trying to run freelancer (in comp mode, disabling firewall, disabling anti-virus, disabling ipv6, running as admin and every combination of these) the freelancer exe runs (I can see it in my processes) and then ends in less than a second. In this time my color scheme reverts to original and then returns back. Also, the game launcher screen, the black box with large white font saying “Freelancer”, does not pop up/ start either. My windows is completely up-to-date and I have searched all over the web and yet to find a problem similar to mine.

No I’m even launching the game directly from the disk and desktop icon (double clicking desktop icon or initializing setup from disk then clicking play game)

You need to use the no-cd on modern operating systems.
